Ursa Major était un power trio de hard rock originaire de New York, formé en 1972 autour de Dick Wagner, guitariste et chanteur reconnu pour ses collaborations avec Alice Cooper et Lou Reed. Le groupe a vu ses débuts avec Billy Joel aux claviers, avant que ce dernier ne quitte le groupe pour des raisons personnelles, remplacé par Greg Arama (ex-Amboy Dukes) à la basse. Le trio a sorti un unique album éponyme en 1972, produit par Bob Ezrin, connu pour son travail avec Alice Cooper. Bien que l'album n'ait pas rencontré un grand succès commercial, il est aujourd'hui considéré comme un classique du hard rock des années 70, apprécié pour ses compositions solides et son énergie brute.
