Grateful Dead - Anthem Of The Sun (1968)

Released in 1968, Anthem of the Sun was the Grateful Dead’s second studio album. It has only five songs on it, which is the lowest number of songs between any of the band’s studio albums.At the time of its release, the album was an experimental combination of studio and live recordings, with some tracks, notably Alligator, containing studio passages along with sections recorded at concerts the band performed.

The Sun Moon & Herbs is a 1971 studio album by New Orleans R&B artist Dr. John, noted for its contributions from Eric Clapton, Mick Jagger, and other well-known musicians. It was originally intended to be a three-album set but was cut down to a single disc. The album was described by Allmusic as "dark and swampy" and "best listened to on a hot, muggy night with the sound of thunder rumbling off in the distance like jungle drums.

The band, originally known as The Knowbody Else, was created in 1965 in Black Oak, Arkansas by James 'Jim Dandy' singer Mangrum, and Rickie Reynolds, guitarist, from Manila (Mississippi County). Other members of the group are Stanley 'Goober' Knight, a native of Little Rock (Pulaski County), guitarist, Harvey 'Burley' Jett, from Marion (Crittenden County), guitarist, Pat 'Dirty' Daugherty, from Jonesboro (Craighead County), bassist and Wayne 'Squeezebox' Evans, drummer.

Room - Preflight (1970)

Room was an obscure British group who released a promising debut-album, and then disappeared into oblivion. They played a quite rough, unpolished and guitar-dominated style of early 70's progressive rock mainly influenced by jazz and blues, but they also gave the music a symphonic side by using lots of strings and brass. They were fronted by a female-singer, and her voice fitted well into their often melo-dramatic and complex songs. The title-track and the instrumental "Cemetery Junction" are both solid progressive rock tracks, and reveals a tight and technical very competent band.

Room était un obscur groupe britannique qui a sorti un premier album assez prometteur avant de disparaître dans l'oubli. Ils ont joué un style assez rude, non poli et dominé par une guitare progressive rock des années 70, principalement influencé par le jazz et le blues, mais ils ont également donné à la musique un côté symphonique en utilisant beaucoup de cordes et de cuivres.

Ils étaient dirigés par une chanteuse, et sa voix s'insérait bien dans leurs chansons souvent mélodramatiques et complexes. La piste titre et le morceau instrumental "Cemetery Junction" sont tous les deux des morceaux de rock progressifs très solides, et révèlent un groupe très compétent techniquement.

Thunder and Roses was an early power trio from Philadelphia USA, recorded “King of the Black Sunrise” and released by United Artists Records in 1969. This garage rock album is a hard rockin’, ultra heavy, Hendrix-inspired, slab of bluesy psychedelia. The trio pay their respects to Hendrix with a strong version of Red House, then lay waste with a blitzkrieg of superb heavy psychedelic guitar like Cream, they never let the blues influences swamp the rock. 

Thunder and Roses est un trio originaire de Philadelphie aux États-Unis, qui a enregistré son "King Of The Black Sunrise" en 1969 par United Artists Records. Cet album propose un hard rock ultra lourd, inspiré par Hendrix, très orienté psychédélisme bluesy. Le trio rend un vibrant hommage à Hendrix avec une version puissante de Red House, puis renverse tout avec une tempête de superbes guitares psychédéliques lourdes comme celles de Cream. Ils ne laissent jamais les influences blues envahir le rock.

Paul Kossof - Back Street Crawler (1973)

Back Street Crawler is first solo album by Paul Kossoff. The same year as Free's demise, Kossoff was able to pull himself together, moderating his drug addiction, enough to record a solo album, Back Street Crawler, which surprisingly featured contributions from his former Free bandmates as well as Yes drummer Alan White.

Back Street Crawler est le premier album solo de Paul Kossoff. La même année que la disparition de Free, Kossoff a réussi à se ressaisir, modérant sa dépendance à la drogue, assez pour enregistrer un album solo, Back Street Crawler, qui a étonnamment mis en vedette les contributions de son ancien comparse du groupe Free, par ailleurs également batteur de Yes, Alan White.
