🎸 Burning Spear - Man In The Hills (1976)

After Studio One Presents Burning Spear in 1973, the trio merges with its leader, the name Burning Spear designates both the group and Winston Rodney. Burning Spear then recorded a series of masterpieces for Island. Marcus Garvey (1975), Man in the Hills (1976) and Dry & Heavy (1977) are all classics of reggae that carry the message of Rastafarianism.

War Ina Babylon is the fourth studio album of Jamaican reggae singer Max Romeo, and undoubtedly the one that brought him the most success; he is also generally considered as one of his musical heyday. Recorded in 1975 at the legendary studio of Black Ark, with the producer of some of the greatest reggae icons, Lee "Scratch" Perry, it is made in collaboration with the group of musicians of the latter, the Upsetters.

War Ina Babylon est le quatrième album studio du chanteur de reggae jamaïcain Max Romeo, et sans doute celui qui lui a rapporté le plus de succès ; il est également généralement considéré comme celui de son apogée musical. Enregistré en 1975 au studio mythique de Black Ark, avec le producteur de quelques-unes des plus grandes icônes du reggae, Lee « Scratch » Perry, il est réalisé en collaboration avec le collectif de musiciens de ce dernier, les Upsetters.

Heart of the Congos is the record that any reggae and dub lover must have in his collection. Thirty years later, the Jamaican trio of the Congos revisited the legendary record of dub inventor Lee Perry. On this new album Back in the Black Ark, the arrangements of Jamaican Island Records studio and the voice of the septuagenarian singer are accompanied by extravagant choruses, crushing bass lines and vocal harmonies, specialty of these talented musicians.

Released in 2002, this opus demonstrates the band's artistic qualities and shakes reggae music world with his perfection. The album joins elders Don Carlos and The Congos, and tells the story of the individual coming to the knowledge of good and evil.

🎸 Capital Letters - Headline News (1979)

Capital Letters is one of the leading groups of the English scene, composed of Jamaicans, towards the end of the 70s and beginning of the 80's. From each piece of this album, emanates something magic, because of the freshness of the compositions, the quality mixing, vocal harmonies and rhythmic energy. It should be noted that at this time in England, the quality of life of a good part of the population is mediocre, which contributes to the emergence of the punk movement, a movement that may have influenced their music.

Capital Letters est l'un des groupes phares de la scène anglaise, composé de jamaïcains, vers la fin des années 70 début 80. De chaque morceau de cet album, émane quelque chose de magique, de part la fraîcheur des compositions, de la qualité du mixage, des harmonies vocales et de l'énergie dégagée par les rythmiques. A noter qu'à cette époque en Angleterre, la qualité de vie d'une bonne partie de la population est médiocre, ce qui participe à l'émergence du mouvement punk, mouvement qui influença peut-être leur musique.

Tropical Storm is a greek reggae band from Heraklion in Crete. No more information about this unknown band who lives on a nice mediterranean island, the European Jamaica without doubt.

A really very pleasant sound. Tropical Storm proves that we can feel the vibes even if the roots are not there !

Tropical Storm est un groupe de reggae grec d'Héraklion en Crète. Pas plus d'informations sur ce groupe inconnu qui vit sur une belle île méditerranéenne, la Jamaïque européenne sans aucun doute.

Un son vraiment très agréable. Tropical Storm prouve que nous pouvons sentir les vibrations même si les racines ne sont pas là!

🎸 Third World - 96 Degrees In the Shade (1977)

Their first self-titled album was released in 1976. Their version of the Abyssinians "Satta massa Ganna" had its first success, but it was without a doubt with their second album "96 degrees in the shade" the following year that they entered the history of reggae with titles like "Jah Glory" or "96 degrees in the shade", classics that never tires of listening! They were joined at the time by another former Inner Circle member, William Clarke.

Leur premier album éponyme sort en 1976. Leur version du « Satta massa Ganna » des Abyssinians rencontre un premier succès, mais c’est incontestablement avec leur second album « 96 degrees in the shade » l'année suivante qu’ils rentrent dans l’histoire du reggae avec des titres comme « Jah Glory » ou « 96 degrees in the shade », des classiques qu’on ne se lasse pas d’écouter ! At 24 years of age, the Rastafarian singer-songwriter known as Chronixx (full name Jamar McNaughton) is already up to the task of leading the next wave of Jamaican reggae artists in the present millennium. The long-gestating Chronology finds the genre in a curious place, appreciated in the mainstream but in an appropriative sense, with the genre vibes, chords and sensibilities serving as the foundation for many a "tropical house" and faux "dancehall pop" hit but nary a Jamaican artist on the level of making a Marley-esque splash.

Back to Roots  perfectly sums up this set's sound. No longer dependent on guesting musicians, the group was now a self-contained unit with a lineup including drummer Stanley "Barnabas" Bryan, lead guitarist Clinton Rufus, and keyboardist Audley Taylor, and fleshed out by percussionist Zoot "Skully" Simms and the brass of Bobby Ellis, Felix "Deadly Headly" Bennett, and Dave Madden. 

Back to Roots résume parfaitement le son de cet ensemble. N'étant plus dépendants de musiciens guests, le groupe est maintenant une unité autonome avec une formation composée du batteur Stanley "Barnabas" Bryan, du guitariste Clinton Rufus et du claviériste Audley Taylor, et étoffée par le percussionniste Zoot "Skully" Simms et les cuivres. de Bobby Ellis, Felix Bennett, et Dave Madden.

Clinton Fearon has kept the fire burning for forty years: his acoustic sets are still being recorded on analogue on the latest album which exudes the unique sound of the best Kingston roots. The chorus and melody in 'The Hunter' are reminiscent of the first 45s he made with The Gladiators. "There are only original compositions on this album, no cover versions. I've been singing for so long now that it's possible some of the tunes might sound familiar sometimes, but it's not deliberate. 

Clinton Fearon a gardé le feu brûlant pendant quarante ans : ses sets acoustiques sont toujours enregistrés en analogique sur le dernier album qui respire le son unique des meilleures racines de Kingston. Le refrain et la mélodie de 'The Hunter' rappellent les premiers 45 tours qu'il a réalisés avec The Gladiators. Peter Tosh - Mystic Man (1979)

Peter Tosh is a singer, guitarist, organist and songwriter ska, rocksteady, reggae and soul, born October 19, 1944 in Lincoln Church, Grange Hill, Westmoreland, Jamaica. He was assassinated September 11, 1987 in Kingston. Bad company, and that he was about to take control of a Jamaican radio are probably the cause of a settlement account.
