The Allman Brothers Band - Hittin' The Note (2003)

This album is a killer. He is co-produced by Barbiero (the producer of Gov't Mule) and Warren Haynes (co-leader of the group with Greg Allman). Everyone was afraid if it sounds too Gov't Mule, well, it's not. Allman Brothers sound HAS-been never so well respecté and valued. The line up is absolutely amazing with the three original band members (Greg Allman, Butch Trucks and Jaimoe) and the newcomers: the brilliant Oteil Burbridge on bass and Marc Quinones on percussion (already present on Where It All Begins 1994). The guitar duo is Perhaps the Most Impressive ever Held in the history of rock: Derek Trucks (slide genius, nephew of drummer Butch Trucks) and Warren Haynes (in the group since 1990 and completely Call reinvigorated the group With His game and Its Compounds in Seven Turns, Shades of two worlds and Where it all begins all essential). The securities offert here are monstrous (twice Composed and all eight co-signed by Haynes). The musicianship is outstanding and is truly impressive chemistry entre the band members.

Le son Allman brothers n'a jamais été aussi bien respecté et mis en valeur. Le line up est absolument extraordinaire avec les trois membres originaux du groupe (Greg Allman, Jaimoe et Butch Trucks) et les nouveaux venus : le génial Oteil Burbridge à la basse et Marc Quinones aux percussions ( déjà présent sur Where it all Begins de 1994). Le duo guitaristique est peut être le plus impressionnant jamais réunit dans l'histoire du rock : Derek Trucks (génie de la slide, neveu du batteur Butch Trucks) et Warren Haynes ( dans le groupe depuis 1990 et qui revigora complètement le groupe avec son jeu et ses compos dans Seven Turns, Shades of two worlds et Where it all begins tous indispensables). Les titres proposés ici sont monstrueux (deux reprises et huit compos toutes co-signés par Haynes). La musicalité est exceptionnelle et la chimie est vraiment impressionnante entre les membres du groupe.

Kenny Loggins & Jim Messina - Mother Lode (1974)

Kenny Loggins and Jim Messina form a brilliant couple of musicians in the line of Simon & Garfunkel and Seals & Crofts. Their Mother Lode album offers a kind of soft-rock-pop-country-tinged jazzy color and sometimes oriental sounds, with a rich instrumentation mandolin, violin, flute, sax, horn ... even if sometimes complex, it is still tasty, simple, refined, precise and full of fantasy. Each song has its own characteristics, its own finesse, always with elegance. The group is highly complementary in terms of harmonies. This record of impeccable musicianship, may surprise with its originality but it is one of the very best of the duo Loggins & Messina.

Leur album Mother Lode propose une sorte de soft-rock-pop-country teinté de couleur jazzy et parfois de sonorités orientales, doté d'une instrumentation riche en mandoline, violon, flûte, sax, cor... Même si c'est parfois complexe, cela reste savoureux, sobre, raffiné, précis et plein de fantaisie. Chaque chanson a sa particularité, sa propre finesse, toujours avec élégance. Le groupe est très complémentaire au niveau des harmonies. Ce disque, d'une musicalité irréprochable, peut surprendre par son originalité mais il constitue l'une des toutes meilleures productions du duo Loggins & Messina.

James Taylor - Sweet Baby James (1970)

The album that launched a thousand singers / composers big heart, Sweet Baby James could possibly be considered the opening salvo of the sweet early revolution of the 70 refugee on the Apple label of the Beatles, James Taylor landed a huge commercial success with Sweet Baby James highlighting his acoustic guitar and singing with a soothing quiet accompaniment (including the other great singer / songwriter Carole King revolutionary piano), and especially thanks to his compositions that bring together folk influences, soul and rock. 'Fire And Rain' remains the emblematic song of James Taylor's debut. She steered it into the Top 10 and set the tone for a popular his 70s.

L'album qui a lancé un millier de chanteurs/compositeurs au grand coeur, Sweet Baby James peut éventuellement être considéré comme la première salve de la douce révolution du début des années 70.
