Formé à Windsor, Connecticut, The Wildweeds est un groupe américain fondé par le guitariste et chanteur Al Anderson, qui deviendra plus tard membre de NRBQ. Leur unique album éponyme, sorti en 1970 sur le label Vanguard, est un mélange raffiné de country rock, de folk rock et de soft rock. Enregistré entre les studios Vanguard à New York et Bradley’s Barn à Mt. Formed in Windsor, Connecticut, The Wildweeds was an American band founded by guitarist and vocalist Al Anderson, who later joined NRBQ. Their sole self-titled album, released in 1970 on the Vanguard label, is a refined blend of country rock, folk rock, and soft rock. Recorded between Vanguard Studios in New York and Bradley’s Barn in Mt. Juliet, Tennessee, the album reflects an era when the boundaries between rock, country, and soul were blurring. Although the album didn't achieve major commercial success upon its release, it is now considered a hidden gem of 1970s country rock.

🎸 Jesse Winchester – Jesse Winchester (1970)

Né en 1944 à Bossier City, Louisiane, Jesse Winchester s’est imposé comme l’une des voix les plus sensibles et poétiques du folk américain. En 1967, pour éviter la conscription durant la guerre du Viêt Nam, il s’exile au Canada, où il entame sa carrière musicale. Son premier album éponyme, sorti en 1970, est produit par Robbie Robertson du groupe The Band et enregistré à Toronto. En raison de son statut de déserteur, Winchester ne peut pas se produire aux États-Unis, mais ses chansons touchent un large public, notamment grâce aux reprises par des artistes tels que Joan Baez, Jimmy Buffett et Emmylou Harris. Il obtient la nationalité canadienne en 1973 et bénéficie d'une amnistie en 1977, lui permettant de retourner aux États-Unis. Il s'installe à Charlottesville, en Virginie, où il décède en 2014 des suites d'un cancer de la vessie.

Born in 1944 in Bossier City, Louisiana, Jesse Winchester emerged as one of the most sensitive and poetic voices in American folk music. In 1967, to avoid the draft during the Vietnam War, he moved to Canada, where he began his musical career. His self-titled debut album, released in 1970, was produced by Robbie Robertson of The Band and recorded in Toronto. Due to his status as a draft evader, Winchester was unable to perform in the United States, but his songs resonated with a wide audience, notably through covers by artists such as Joan Baez, Jimmy Buffett, and Emmylou Harris. He became a Canadian citizen in 1973 and was granted amnesty in 1977, allowing him to return to the United States. He settled in Charlottesville, Virginia, where he passed away in 2014 from bladder cancer.

Abbey Road is the eleventh studio album by the Beatles, released on September 26, 1969. Although Let It Be was released later in 1970, Abbey Road was the final album the band recorded together. It represents a return to more cohesive collaboration after the strained Get Back sessions. The album is renowned for its B-side medley of interconnected songs and the innovative use of the Moog synthesizer. The cover, depicting the band crossing the zebra crossing outside EMI Studios (later renamed Abbey Road Studios), has become one of the most iconic images in music history.
