Jack Traylor, a California-based singer-songwriter, was closely associated with members of Jefferson Airplane and the Grateful Dead. He contributed to Kantner, Slick, and Freiberg's Baron von Tollbooth and the Chrome Nun album. In 1973, he released Child of Nature under the name Jack Traylor & Steelwind, a folk-rock project with psychedelic overtones, produced by Al Schmitt. The album features mixed vocal harmonies, acoustic and electric arrangements, and contributions from musicians like Craig Chaquico (later of Jefferson Starship) and David Freiberg. Though not widely known, Child of Nature has become a cult classic among fans of 1970s psychedelic folk-rock.
