Reaction - Reaction (1971)

Reaction were a one album German band, recording appealing hard rock/early metal at a time when their nation was overflowing with that sort of thing. This is isn't mind blowingly heavy or anything, but the guitar firepower and sound is certainly there. It is an extremely consistently very good album, recommended to hard rock fans. If you like early 70s heavy underground, give this a listen.

Reaction était un groupe allemand d'un seul album, enregistrant du hard rock/ metal à l'époque où leur pays débordait de ce genre de choses. Ce n'est pas totalement décoiffant ni dès innovant, mais la puissance de feu de la guitare et le son sont certainement là. C'est un très bon album extrêmement cohérent, recommandé aux fans de hard rock. Si vous aimez le son heavy underground des années 70, écoutez-le.

Originaire de Tampa (Floride), Wizard était un power trio formé en 1970 et resté actif pendant seulement dix-huit mois. Composé de Ben Schultz (guitare, chant), Paul Forney (basse, chant principal) et Chris Luhn (batterie), ils se sont rapidement fait repérer lors du festival de Goose Lake, ouvrant pour Iron Butterfly, Mountain et d'autres grands noms. Leur unique album, The Original Wizard, est un enregistrement en 'live studio', autoproduit, sorti en 1971 sur Peon Records. Le groupe y délivre un rock psychédélique puissant, aux guitares saturées, basse charnue et rythmique explosive, avec un son souvent comparé à Cream, Black Sabbath ou Grand Funk

Formed in Tampa, Florida, in 1970, Wizard was a short-lived American power trio featuring Ben Schultz, Paul Forney, and Chris Luhn. They gained attention after their performance at the Goose Lake Festival, sharing stages with Iron Butterfly and Mountain. Their sole LP, The Original Wizard, released in 1971 on Peon Records, captures a “live in the studio” raw energy. Fusing hard rock with psychedelic undertones, the band generated a heavy, fuzzy sound likened to Cream, Black Sabbath, and Grand Funk Railroad .

Fire - The Magic Shoemaker (1971)

London trio Dave Lambert, Dick Dufall and Bob Voice had impressed the Beatles’ Apple label sufficiently to score a deal that resulted in the classic psych A-side “Father’s Name Is Dad”. The marriage was not a happy one, though, and Fire soon found themselves at odds with the music industry at large. Retiring to the suburbs, Lambert spent a year writing and demo-ing the songs for The Magic Shoemaker, based around a whimsical children’s bedtime story in which a shoemaker cobbles together a pair of shoes that unexpectedly allow the wearer to fly.

Le trio londonien Dave Lambert, Dick Dufall et Bob Voice ont suffisamment impressionné le label Apple des Beatles pour conclure un accord qui a donné naissance au classique psych-A "Father's Name Is Dad". Cependant, le mariage ne fut pas heureux et Fire se retrouva bientôt en désaccord avec l'industrie musicale en général. Retraité en banlieue, Lambert passa un an à écrire et à démo-rer les chansons de The Magic Shoemaker, autour d'une histoire fantaisiste où les cordonniers fabriquent une paire de chaussures qui permettent à celui qui les porte de voler.

Gold started out as a San Francisco garage band. They slowly developed into a top notch performing group that caught the attention of Bill Graham. Bill had them appear at an audition night then hired them to open a Fillmore-West show for Mike Bloomfield. Later that same year they opened shows at Winterland for Ten Years After, Big Brother and the Holding Company and Hot Tuna. The year before they appeared on a show with Loose Gravel and Mike Wilhelm, Big Brother and Full Tilt Boogie with Janis Joplin singing with both bands at a Hell's Angels party in San Rafael.Gold acquired the services of two outstanding singers - Robin Sinclair previously with Saloom-Sinclair and Bob Golden who played Berger in the Chicago production of Hair. The band also featured outstanding guitar work from Joe Bajza .
