Dantalian’s Chariot, formed in 1967 by keyboardist and vocalist Zoot Money, emerged briefly from the ashes of his R&B-based Big Roll Band. With Chariot Rising, the band veered fully into psychedelic territory, blending swirling organ textures, fuzzy guitar leads, and surreal lyrical imagery. Although the album remained unreleased until 1996, its 1967 recordings capture the essence of British psychedelia at its peak. Guitarist Andy Summers, later of The Police, brings inventive guitar work that adds depth to this lost classic. A cult artifact, Chariot Rising stands as a vivid testimony of the UK underground’s experimental energy.
