Premier album solo de Jerry Garcia, Garcia sort en 1972 alors que le Grateful Dead connaît une période de créativité intense. Garcia, Jerry Garcia’s first solo album, was released in 1972 during a particularly prolific phase for the Grateful Dead. Written entirely with lyricist Robert Hunter, the album sees Garcia taking full creative control—playing nearly all instruments except for drums, which are handled by Bill Kreutzmann. The record includes several tracks that would become live staples for the Dead, such as “Deal,” “Bird Song,” and “Sugaree,” delivered here in raw, introspective versions. It’s a personal, low-key, and emotionally resonant debut.
