Grateful Dead released in 1969 her third studio album, on behalf palindromic unpronounceable: Aoxomoxoa. This name is probably born of a too psychotropic evening. Avant de continuer plus loin dans cette chronique, je vous le dis sans détour : cet album est un incontournable de la discographie du Dead. C'est l'album de nombreux classiques des californiens de Frisco. Le groupe, à ce moment précis de sa carrière, accueille Mickey Hartman aux percussions et Tom Constanten, pianiste. Il est alors à fond dans le LSD, dont il est le pionnier des acid-tests du moment. Aoxomoxoa sent le trip à plein nez, l'influence psychédélique étant perceptible tant dans l'interprétation que dans les textes. On y retrouve l'acoustique et magique 'Mountains Of The Moon', chanté par Jerry Garcia , le fantastique 'St Stephen', un des titres mythiques et préférés du Dead, le long, inquiétant et créatif 'What's Become Of The Baby', surprenant thème à vocalises. Le Dead tente quelques expériences intéressantes sur cet album, pour fixer un son Dead.
