Sorti en mai 1977, Book of Dreams poursuit la veine commerciale initiée avec Fly Like an Eagle. L’album est un enchaînement de tubes où le rock mélodique et le boogie s’harmonisent avec des éléments électroniques. Steve Miller affine son style, entre efficacité pop et invention sonore. Des titres comme « Jet Airliner », « Jungle Love » ou « Swingtown » sont devenus emblématiques de son répertoire.

Book Of Dreams, sorti en mai 1977 mais enregistré en même temps que Fly Like an Eagle en 1976, marque un tournant fondamental dans la carrière du Joker, amorcé déjà dans l’album du même nom.

En effet, après une première partie de carrière consacrée au blues psychédélique, qui fleurit sur les collines de San Fransisco, le gamin de Chicago qui a baigné toute sa jeunesse dans la musique de Muddy Waters , Howlin 'Wolf et Buddy Guy, change radicalement de direction.

Steve Miller propose alors un blues-rock plus mélodique, ce qui va devenir le rock FM.

Book of Dreams est le mariage réussi du blues-rock et des synthétiseurs, le tout mis au service de superbes mélodies, composée avec soin et rigueur. Cette musique respire la joie de vivre, l’envie de chanter les paroles sur les morceaux rapides, et d’écouter calmement les morceaux lents.

Released in May 1977, Book of Dreams continued Steve Miller’s commercial success following Fly Like an Eagle. The album offers a strong set of catchy tunes blending melodic rock, boogie, and electronic textures. Steve Miller refined his sound into a tight and accessible format. Tracks like “Jet Airliner,” “Jungle Love,” and “Swingtown” have become iconic entries in his catalog.

Book Of Dreams, released in May 1977 but recorded simultaneously Fly Like an Eagle in 1976, marks a turning point in the career of the Joker, already begun in the album of the same name. In fact, after a first career section on psychedelic blues, which flowers on the hills of San Francisco, the Chicago kid who bathed his youth in the music of Muddy Waters, Howlin 'Wolf and Buddy Guy, radically changes direction. Steve Miller then proposes a more melodic blues-rock, which will become the FM rock. Book of Dreams is the perfect blend of blues-rock and synthesizers, all in the service of superb melodies composed with care and rigor.
