Hailing from Albuquerque, New Mexico, Lincoln St. Exit was one of the few Native American-led psychedelic rock bands of the late '60s. Their sole album, Drive It! (1970), blends heavy psych, garage-blues, and fuzzy hard rock with raw, passionate vocals by Sioux frontman Michael Martin. Lyrically powerful and socially aware, the record touches on Native identity and protest, delivered with grit and distorted guitars. A hidden gem and a culturally significant artifact of the American underground rock scene.

American Eagle - American Eagle (1970)

American Eagle started out in the Pacific Northwest as the Surprise Package and featured ex-members of The Viceroys, Galaxies, and Rock Collection. By the time they ended up American Eagle, they had relocated to California. The Surprise Package released one album: "Free Up" among a handful of singles in 1969. By 1970 they'd changed their name to American Eagle and released their sole eponymous L.P. on Decca. Featuring a cover of the Moody Blues' "Nights in White Satin" mixed in with Vanilla Fudge type hard rock, with melodic passages. 

American Eagle a débuté dans le Pacific Northwest sous le nom de Surprise Package et a progressivement intégré d'anciens membres des Viceroys, Galaxies et Rock Collection. Ils ont ensuite déménagé en Californie. The Surprise Package a alors sorti un album: "Free Up" puis une poignée de singles en 1969. En 1970, ils ont changé leur nom en American Eagle et ont sorti leur unique album éponyme, chez Decca. On y trouve une reprise du "Nights in White Satin" de Moody Blues mélangé à du hard rock de type Vanilla Fudge, avec quelques passages mélodiques.

Three Man Army est formé au début des années 1970 par les frères Adrian et Paul Gurvitz, anciens membres du Gun. Après un premier album prometteur (A Third of a Lifetime), le groupe revient en 1974 avec Two, considéré comme leur sommet artistique. Ce disque propose un savant mélange de hard rock mélodique, de riffs acérés et d'envolées progressives. Leur virtuosité instrumentale est soutenue par des compositions solides, entre power trio et finesse d'arrangements. Two annonce aussi le futur projet Baker Gurvitz Army avec Ginger Baker, mais conserve ici une énergie brute, électrique, à la croisée de Cream, Humble Pie et Uriah Heep.
