Three Man Army est formé au début des années 1970 par les frères Adrian et Paul Gurvitz, anciens membres du Gun. Après un premier album prometteur (A Third of a Lifetime), le groupe revient en 1974 avec Two, considéré comme leur sommet artistique. Ce disque propose un savant mélange de hard rock mélodique, de riffs acérés et d'envolées progressives. Leur virtuosité instrumentale est soutenue par des compositions solides, entre power trio et finesse d'arrangements. Two annonce aussi le futur projet Baker Gurvitz Army avec Ginger Baker, mais conserve ici une énergie brute, électrique, à la croisée de Cream, Humble Pie et Uriah Heep.

Three Man Army was founded in the early 1970s by brothers Adrian and Paul Gurvitz, formerly of The Gun. Following their debut, A Third of a Lifetime, they released Two in 1974—widely regarded as their strongest work. The album blends melodic hard rock, driving guitar riffs, and progressive flourishes with confident songwriting and high-level musicianship. The power trio format suits them well, delivering both punch and polish. Two foreshadows their later venture with Ginger Baker (Baker Gurvitz Army), while retaining a raw, electrified energy that draws comparisons to Cream, Free, and Atomic Rooster.
