Lighthouse - One Fine Morning (1971)

Lighthouse was formed in 1968 in Toronto by vocalist/drummer Skip Prokop (formerly of the Paupers) and keyboardist Paul Hoffert. The two met by coincidence on a flight from New York City to Toronto, and discussed forming a band structured around a rock rhythm section, jazz horn section, and classical string section.

Bobby Caldwell is the debut album by singer and songwriter Bobby Caldwell. The album was released in 1978 on the Clouds imprint of TK Records. Robert Hunter Caldwell (born August 15, 1951) is an American singer and songwriter who recorded the hit single "What You Won't Do for Love" in 1978. After several R&B and smooth jazz albums, Caldwell turned to singing standards from the Great American Songbook and the repertoire of Frank Sinatra.

Rhead Brothers - The Black Shaheen (1978)

The Black Shaheen album was recorded shortly after the Dedicate album, but unfortunately it was shelved by EMI. Only a handful releases was uncovered. Recorded in the late 70’s in the legendary Wishborne studio, owned by Terry Woordford in Muscle Shoals , this album represents some of the finest smoothest, funkiest blue eyed soul’n AOR ever released. 

L'album Black Shaheen a été enregistré peu après l'album Dedicate, mais malheureusement il a été mis en suspens par EMI. Seules quelques publications ont été découvertes. Bones - Waitin' Here (1973)

Bones was a four piece rock band on the L.A. scene in the years 1969 – 1973. An exciting live act as well as a remarkable recording outfit, Bones crafted a sound which combined great melodies, sophisticated vocals, rockin’ instrumental tracks and a danceable beat. The members were Jimmy Faragher, bass, Danny Faragher, keys, Greg Tornquist, guitar, and Casey Cunningham, drums. The band also had an unplugged, sensitive side, which featured sweet harmonies, and finger picked guitar. The guys had been known as the Peppermint Trolley Co., but in early '69, after differences with their producer/manager, they’d walked away from all their ties, including the Acta record deal, to reinvent themselves.

Buckingham Nicks is the sole studio album by the American rock duo Buckingham Nicks. Produced by Keith Olsen, the album was released in September 1973 by Polydor Records. Buckingham Nicks is notable as an early commercial collaboration between Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham, both of whom later joined Fleetwood Mac.The album was a commercial failure since its original release despite the duo's subsequent success.

Lambert And Nuttycombe - As You Will (1973)

Lambert and Nuttycombe were an acoustic folk duo from Los Angeles active 1968-1972. The duo was formed by Craig Nuttycombe and California surf musician Denis Lambert who had met in a West Coast band called The Eastside Kids. This album got some musicians' contribution : Clark Gassman (horn arrangements), Hoppy Hodges (drums), Josef Lamanno (bass), Keith Olsen (string arrangements), Peggy Sandvig (keyboards), Thomas Sellers (string arrangements) and (electric, acoustic and slide guitar).

Lambert et Nuttycombe étaient un duo folk acoustique de Los Angeles actif 1968-1972. Stillrock - Stillrock (1969)

Stillrock was a short-lived group whose only effort featured a very pleasant collection of tunes. You can hear double and three-part harmonies , along with clever influences of the Everlys, the Beatles and a lot of Hollies (a lot), all within the boundaries of a beautiful Southern rock flavor. You can enjoy steel guitar parts, a couple of ballads with violins in the background, nice countrified mid tempos where you can even smell the grass (and also maybe a shy attempt at light psych).

Stillrock était un groupe éphémère dont le seul effort a consisté en une très agréable collection de parties musicales. Vous pouvez entendre des harmonies en double et en trois parties, ainsi que des influences éclairées des Everly, des Beatles et de beaucoup de Hollies (beaucoup), le tout dans les limites d'une belle saveur rock sudiste. Vous pouvez apprécier des parties de steel guitar, quelques ballades avec des violons en arrière-plan, de bons demi-tempos country où vous pouvez même sentir l'herbe (et peut-être aussi une tentative timide de psych léger).

Valdy And The Hometown Band - Valdy (1976)

The Hometown Band was founded by former Chilliwack sax and keyboard player Claire Lawrence. After leaving Chilliwack in late 1971 he started his own record label, Haida Records (distributed by A & M) where he signed folk singer Valdy. At first Valdy toured as a solo, with just his guitar. As the hits kept coming, and the production got more elaborate, the need for a touring back-up band became evident. So Claire Lawrence put together a band with the finest players in town and release this album.

The Hometown Band a été fondé par l'ancien joueur de claviers et saxophonistes de Chilliwack, Claire Lawrence. Après avoir quitté Chilliwack à la fin de 1971, il crée sa propre maison de disque, Haida Records (distribuée par A & M) où il signe le chanteur folk Valdy. An early 70's rock obscure band with some occasional baroque pop styled music and influences, with bit of orchestration here and there and delicate harmonies. The band includes Danny Guy (vocals), Tom Guy  (vocals), Ken Edwards (guitar bass), Emil Richards (water chimes, waterphone), Gene Garfin (drums percussion), Roger Johnson (guitar), Andrew Gold (guitar, Percussion), Bill Lazerus (percussion), Don Caverhill (keyboards) and Bill Plummer (sitar).

Un groupe de rock obscur du début des années 70 avec de la musique et des influences pop baroques occasionnelles, avec un peu d'orchestration ici et là et de délicates harmonies. The Illinois Speed Press - Duet (1970)

Illinois Speed Press was a Chicago-spawned band whose sound combined elements of R&B and country music in a powerful double-lead-guitar attack. It was well received critically, but didn't make too much of an impression on the charts. Their second album, Duet, which was much more country-oriented, was released in 1970, by which time the group had seemingly run its course. Illinois Speed Press split up that year.

L'Illinois Speed Press était un groupe de Chicago dont le son combinait des éléments de R & B et de musique country dans une puissante attaque à double guitare. McGuinn, Clark & Hillman - McGuinn, Clark & Hillman (1979)

Although Roger McGuinn, Gene Clark, and Chris Hillman were founding members of the Byrds, when they reunited as a trio at the end of the 1970s they seemed determined to create a sound that did not remind listeners of the earlier group. Though their music was still mainstream pop/rock with folk antecedents, it sounded like contemporary '70s studio rock, even to the point of including a song with a disco arrangement, "Release Me Girl."

Bien que Roger McGuinn, Gene Clark et Chris Hillman fussent les membres fondateurs des Byrds, lorsqu'ils se sont retrouvés en trio à la fin des années 1970, ils semblaient décidés à créer un son qui ne rappellerait pas celui du groupe précédent. McGuinn's self-titled 1973 solo debut--with stirring guest appearances from Bob Dylan and Charles Lloyd--was a relentlessly eclectic joy from top to bottom, drawing stirring inspiration from all eras of the Byrds' storied career.

Happy Trails is the second album of the American band Quicksilver Messenger Service. Most of the album was recorded from two performances at the Fillmore East and Fillmore West, although it is not clear which parts were recorded at which Fillmore.

Released in 1972, this is the sole Two Friends LP on Motowns folk label Natural Resources. Soft folk rock lightly funky with a certain déjà vu feel (America,CSNY) . Two friends consists several members : Chip Carpenter (rhythm guitar), Bucky Wiener (lead rhythm, acoustic guitar), Michel Rubini (piano), Jim Keltner, Bob Morin, John Raines (drums), Ray Neipolitin, Joe Osborne (bass guitar), Ann Goodman (cello) and  Harry Bluestone (violin).

Sorti en 1972, il s'agit de l'unique Two Friends LP du label folk de Motowns, Natural Resources. Rock folk doux légèrement funky avec une certaine sensation de déjà vu (America, CSNY). It featured Carlos Vega, Joe Vitale, Russ Kunkel, Tris Imboden, Timothy B. Schmit, Jeff Lorber, Paulinho Da Costa, Joe Lala, Kenny Loggins.

The Souther Hillman Furay Band - The Souther Hillman Furay Band (1974)

Souther, Hillman, Furay Band is a band composed of John David Souther, a writer close to the Eagles, Chris Hillman, ex-Byrds / former Flying Burrito Brothers / ex-Manassas and Richie Furay, ex-Buffalo Springfield / ex-Poco. Created by David Geffen (Geffen Records) in the mid-1970s, this band also included Paul Harris on keyboards (ex-Manassas), Jim Clarke on drums (ex-Byrds, Ex flying Burrito Brothers), Joe Lala on drums (ex -Manassas), Al Perkins on pedal steel guitar and guitars (ex-Manassas). This group recorded 2 studio albums and broke up soon after not having achieved the success expected by Geffen. The three associates were too individualistic for the fusion to take place. Note the strong presence of members of Manassas, former group of Stephen Stills.

Ce groupe enregistra 2 albums studio et se sépara peu après n'ayant pas obtenu le succès escompté par Geffen. Les 3 accolytes étaient trop individualistes pour que la fusion ait lieu. À noter la forte présence des membres de Manassas, ancien groupe de Stephen Stills.

Jerry Riopelle - Saving Grace (1974)

The trademark Riopelle sound caught the ear of radio programmers and their listeners in the Southwestern states in the early 70’s, when Jerry released his first, self-titled album for Capitol Records. Arizona caught on quickly to this L.A. singer/songwriter's talent, and in 1974 following the release of Jerry’s third album "Saving Grace", Riopelle performed as the support act for Dr. John at the legendary Celebrity Theatre on New Year’s Eve.

Kursaal Flyers - The Great Artiste (1975)

The Kursaal Flyers bridged the gap between pub rock and power pop, turning out a handful of fine albums and great singles in their brief two-year career. Comprised of Paul Shuttleworth (vocals), Graeme Douglas (guitar), Vic Collins (guitar, steel guitar, vocals), Riche Bull (bass, vocals), and Will Birch (drums), the band released their first album, Chocs Away, in 1975; it was followed soon afterward by The Great Artiste. Both records showed a grasp of country and roots rock, as well as pure pop.

Les Kursaal Flyers ont comblé le fossé entre pub rock et power pop, produisant une poignée de bons albums et de grands singles au cours de leur brève carrière de deux ans. Produced by Cass Eliott ("Mamas & Papas Mama Cass") in the early 70's, this solo album by English singer-guitarist Dave Mason is a very underrated pop gem. Cass Elliott sings on "Here We Go Again" and does the vocal harmonies on the other 9 original compositions.

Howdy Moon was the sole album by the band Howdy Moon, released in 1974. The band included Valerie Carter, Richard Hovey and Jon Lind. The trio of friends moved to Los Angeles where they were signed by A&M Records and played at The Troubadour.Many of the musicians from the band Little Feat are featured on the album.

Howdy Moon était le seul album du groupe Howdy Moon, sorti en 1974. Le groupe comprenait Valerie Carter, Richard Hovey et Jon Lind. Timothy B. Schmit - Leap Of Faith (2016)

Had he been born a half-decade earlier, Timothy B. Schmit might well have been a part of the folk-rock boom in California. As it was, he unknowingly followed a path similar to that of Gene Clark, Roger McGuinn, and Chris Hillman, from folk to rock, the main difference being that he was in his mid-teens at the time and had to wait to make it work professionally. But he made up for it by playing a key role in the histories of two country-rock bands that evolved directly out of that folk-rock boom, Poco and the Eagles, and hit his heyday in the 1970s and early '80s.

S'il était né une demi-décennie plus tôt, Timothy B. Schmit aurait bien pu faire partie du boom du folk-rock en Californie. En l'occurrence, il suivit sans le savoir une voie semblable à celle de Gene Clark, Roger McGuinn et Chris Hillman, du folk au rock, la principale différence étant qu'il était alors adolescent et qu'il devait attendre travailler professionnellement. Firefall - Luna Sea (1977)

After introducing their mild, country-rock charm with 1976's Firefall, Rick Roberts and the band were right back at it a year later with Luna Sea. Following in the footsteps of their debut release, Luna Sea attached the same type of silky harmonies to light, breezy acoustics which confirmed the band's comfortable residence in their genre. Although Firefall's first album contained three hit singles (two of them making the Top 40), Luna Sea has Roberts fully revealing the influences that the Flying Burrito Brothers had on him during his stint with the group. 

Après avoir présenté leur doux charme country-rock avec Firefall de 1976, Rick Roberts et le groupe Firewall y sont revenus un an plus tard avec Luna Sea. Suivant les traces de leur premier opus, Luna Sea retrouve le même type d'harmonies soyeuses à une acoustique légère qui confirme la résidence confortable du groupe dans ce genre. Bien que le premier album de Firefall comprenait trois singles à succès (dont deux faisaient partie du Top 40), Luna Sea révèle à Roberts les influences que les Flying Burrito Brothers ont eu sur lui pendant son passage dans le groupe.
