🎸 The Sacred Mushroom – The Sacred Mushroom (1969)
🇬🇧 Biography (English)
The Sacred Mushroom was a Cincinnati-based psychedelic blues rock band formed in the late 1960s by brothers Larry and Danny Pagano. Their only self-titled album, released in 1969 on Parallax Records, blends raw garage energy with bluesy guitar licks and psychedelic textures. The band’s sound evokes the gritty spirit of the American counterculture, with heavy influences from Cream and The Doors. Larry’s raspy vocals and Danny’s intense guitar work make this an essential listen for fans of acid blues and underground psych-rock.

🎸 Hot Tuna – Yellow Fever (1975)
🇬🇧 Biographie (English)
Jorma Kaukonen and Jack Casady, guitarist and bassist respectively of Jefferson Airplane (completed by Will Scarlet, harmonica) form in 1969 Hot Tuna at which friends and relatives of the Airplane is often invited as Marty Balin, Spencer Dryden, Peter Kaukonen, Papa John Creach, Sam Piazza ...). The training evolves in a blues style and first country focused on the acoustics in their first albums but soon succumbs to the power to excel in a kind of hard blues quickened. Yellow Fever is rocking album and he hustles. Warning, this tandem is one of the brightest that the rock has known. Kaukonen / Casady is also worship that Bruce / Clapton, Paul Jones / Page or Redding / Hendrix.
The second chapter in Hot Tuna’s electrified trilogy, Yellow Fever pushes the band even further from their acoustic roots. Here, the trio delivers raw, powerful rock deeply rooted in heavy blues and stretched-out improvisation.
Jorma Kaukonen’s guitar is fierce and expressive, ranging from crunchy riffs to blazing solos. Jack Casady anchors the sound with thick, exploratory bass lines, and Bob Steeler’s drumming adds a thunderous punch. Yellow Fever is gritty, aggressive, and uncompromising—a true document of mid-'70s power blues-rock.

Sting - ... Nothing Like The Sun (1987)
2nd solo album from the former singer-bassist Police, Nothing Like the Sun confirms it was necessary Sting supremacy in the musical landscape of the late 80s he affirms his maturity and commitment. It is also a melting pot of influences.'Lazarus Heart 'opens the way with a brisk pace but vaguely Latin jazz orchestration. 'Straight To My Heart', a little further, it also operates Latin-jazzy mix, with a rhythm contretempo is sometimes heard in the Font folder. Then emotion takes precedence with first 'Be Still My Beating Heart': a lot of poetry in words and melodies that soar, chiselled melodies goldsmith, both varied and consistent within the same song. The guitar is provided by the former friend, Andy Summers. Sweet melancholy with sober 'Secret Marriage' or 'Sister Moon', languorous jazz for insomniacs moody saxophone solo intro by Branford Marsalis. Even the cover of Jimi Hendrix, 'Little Wing', with the participation of Gil Evans, is very refined, planing. delicately subtle music for 'English Man In NY', jazzy reggae in a very British elegance drifting towards a musical bridge hip-hop noting that New York is a place of cultural mix. Sting gives even a kind of rap jazzy sauce with a very personal adaptation of the legend of Noah's Ark, 'Rock Steady'. Finally, the maturity of Sting is expressed through a series of very involved songs: the very explicit "History will teach us nothing," the story is written with the blood of men, on a pure reggae juice, effective . Sting and holds an event in the history of the late 80s: the widows of the Pinochet dictatorship, 'They Dance Alone' with a text spoken in Spanish, the melodies are very fluid here with sounds of flutes and guitars dry (Clapton and Knopfler guests) and a late salsa by way of hope. 'Fragile', more or less central position, is the jewel of this album, rhythmic swaying without excess, and intro guitar solo to fall, and still very beautiful texts illustrating a sublime melody. So what are delicious ingredients that are eaten at the table for Sting, very different, very balanced and always seasoned with a touch of jazz, his first love. To consume without moderation ...
🎸 Mu – Mu (1971)
🇺🇸 Biography (English)
MU is a project of Merrell Fankhauser, songwriter associated with Jeff Cotton former rhythm guitarist of Captain Beefheart. Based in Southern California before moving to Hawaii after recording their only album. Typical of the hippie era, mixing acoustic and electric, on medium tempo blues influences with a more or less marked according to the titles. The result is sometimes not far from Jefferson Airplane. But it sometimes adds a sax, some delta blues, and even on some tracks, the very long: 'Eternal Thirst', some Captain Beefheart. And then also percussion, you can imagine what they evoke. On 'The Interlude' it also recalls the Doors, but the thread is that everywhere there is the slide. Is a kind of panorama of the music of the time but extremely well played, sang, recorded with gems like: 'Ballad of Brother Lew'.
The American band Mu made a mark in the early ’70s with a psychedelic rock infused with folk and blues elements, blending ethereal sounds with sonic experimentation. Their sole self-titled album from 1971 stands out for its mysterious and hypnotic atmosphere, featuring rich instrumentation and introspective compositions. This work is a rare gem of the American psychedelic scene, delivering an immersive and enigmatic listening experience.

🎸 Tito & Tarantula – Tarantism (1997)
🇬🇧 Biographie (English)
Built around Mexican-American frontman Tito Larriva, Tito & Tarantula made their mark in the mid-'90s with an eerie blend of blues-infused rock, desert vibes, and Latino influences. Their debut Tarantism, closely linked to the soundtrack of From Dusk Till Dawn (in which they appear as the vampire bar band), delivers raw emotion, hypnotic rhythms, and songs like After Dark that gained cult status. It's a dark, moody, and unforgettable ride through the borderlands of rock.
Tito & Tarantula is one of the most credible training on rock made in New Mexico. This group reflects a rare spirit of freedom ... It is perhaps for this reason that some developers have used Larriva Tito and Tarantula Steven Huffsteder to sign some tracks on some BO such as U-Turn ( Oliver Stone), The Million Dollar Hotel (Wim Wenders), Desperado and From Dust Till Dawn (Robert Rodriguez). Their influences are generally basic, rock 60/70, blues 70s rockabilly explosive etc ... But Tito & Tarantula remains a hybrid groups equally striking in their way, Cruzados, Del Fuegos, Fleshtones, Smithereens .. .. Tito & Tarantula studio recordings as if the moment mattered; each attack as the feel of the live game is this rare flavor for a rock band as amazing as Tito and his gang of Mexican bandits (not cliché but true !!!), whose leader lug around an acting jaws Cannibal Holocaust escaped! Riffs and rhythmic calibrated removed, make Tarantism a classic unpretentious, able to align teigneuses melodies and relentless. When the rumble threatening to Tito about "Angry Cockroaches", was staged by director (and producer of the disc) Robert Rodriguez in one of his films and he signed some clips. When the poignant "Killing Just For Fun" certainly had to be written in an old Motel El Paso ... Otherwise we are also impressed with some ballads in this album tormented the settling of taste.
