Eclection est un groupe anglo-norvégien éphémère qui a vu le jour à Londres en 1967. Leur unique album mêle folk-rock, pop orchestrale et harmonies vocales à la manière de The Mamas and the Papas ou Fairport Convention. Produit par Ossie Byrne (Bee Gees), cet opus soigné mêle envolées lyriques et touches psychédéliques dans un esprit progressif. Bien qu’oublié du grand public, il reste une pépite du folk baroque britannique.

Encore un groupe éclair, qui a laissé un petit chef d’oeuvre. Eclection était un groupe de folk-rock britannique. Qui plus est, c’était un des rares groupes anglais a avoir signé chez Elektra,  le plus connu des labels indépendants américains, celui des Doors. Parler de goupe anglais pour Eclection est d’ailleurs un peu exagéré étant donné qu’un seul membre, le batteur Gerry Conway, est en réalité britannique, le reste du groupe vient de Norvège (Georg Hultgreen né Kajanus, chanteur et guitariste),  d’Australie (Trevor Lucas, chanteur et bassiste,  et Kerrilee Male, chanteuse) et du Canada (Michael Rosen, voix et guitare). Eclection était donc éclectique dans sa composition.   Le nom vient même de là. Il n’y a pas de hasard. Jamais.

🇺🇸 Biography (English)

Eclection was a short-lived Anglo-Norwegian band formed in London in 1967. Their only album blends folk-rock, orchestral pop, and rich vocal harmonies reminiscent of The Mamas and the Papas or early Fairport Convention. Produced by Ossie Byrne (Bee Gees), it’s a refined and progressive psych-folk gem.

Another lightning group, which left a small masterpiece. Eclection was a British folk-rock band. What's more, it was one of the rare English bands to have signed at Elektra, the most famous independent American label, the Doors. To speak English band for Eclection is also a little exaggerated since only one member, the drummer Gerry Conway, is actually British, the rest of the band comes from Norway (Georg Hultgreen born Kajanus, singer and guitarist), Australia (Trevor Lucas, singer and bassist, and Kerrilee Male, singer) and Canada (Michael Rosen, voice and guitar). Eclection was therefore eclectic in its composition. The name even comes from there. There's no hazard. Never.
