Ce groupe britannique formé en 1968 par les frères Norman et Garth Watt-Roy, avec Colin Horton-Jennings, Mick Deacon, Dick Hanson (trompette), Tex Phillpotts et Ian Aitchison (saxes), plus Ron Prudence à la batterie, fut conçu comme un horn-based rock band à la manière de Chicago ou Blood, Sweat & Tears

Leur deuxième album, The Going’s Easy, paru en novembre 1970 sur Harvest Records, propose une fusion intense de rock blues, de funk, de jazz-rock et de prog, intégrant une section cuivres bien présente. Les titres phares comme Borderline, Magic Woman Touch, Story Times and Nursery Rhymes, ou Tell the Story illustrent parfaitement cette énergie brass-rock. Malgré un son puissant et sophistiqué, soutenu par des productions signées Jonathan Peel et une pochette signée Hipgnosis, l’opus ne trouve pas son public au Royaume-Uni et le groupe cesse ses activités début 1971.

The Greatest Show On Earth, originating in Harlow in 1968, featured Norman and Garth Watt‑Roy, Colin Horton‑Jennings, Mick Deacon, Dick Hanson, Tex Phillpotts, Ian Aitchison, and Ron Prudence. Their sophomore LP, The Going’s Easy, released in November 1970 on Harvest, showcases a vibrant blend of blues‑rock, jazz‑funk, and progressive horn arrangements. Standout tracks like Borderline, Magic Woman Touch, Story Times and Nursery Rhymes, and Tell the Story highlight the band’s sophisticated yet energetic style. Despite quality production by Jonathan Peel and a polished Hipgnosis album cover, the record failed to resonate commercially in the UK, and the band disbanded in early 1971.
