Originaire de Syracuse (New York), Sabbatis fut un obscur groupe américain des débuts du hard rock psychédélique. Enregistré en 1970 mais resté longtemps inédit officiellement, leur unique album présente un mélange brut et hypnotique de heavy rock, de psychédélisme et de blues, porté par l’omniprésence d’un orgue Hammond envoûtant et des guitares lourdes. Très représentatif de la scène underground américaine de l’époque, cet album a progressivement gagné un statut culte chez les collectionneurs et amateurs de hard psych.

Hailing from Syracuse, New York, Sabbatis was a little-known American band of early psychedelic hard rock. Recorded in 1970 but long unreleased officially, their sole album features a raw and hypnotic blend of heavy rock, psychedelia, and blues, driven by prominent Hammond organ and heavy guitars. Highly representative of the American underground scene of the time, the album has since earned cult status among hard psych collectors and enthusiasts.

Kahvas Jute est un groupe australien formé à Sydney en 1970, acclamé dans les cercles de rock psychédélique et progressif pour son unique album sorti en janvier 1971, Wide Open via Infinity Records. Le line-up original comprenait Dennis Wilson (guitare, chant), Tim Gaze (guitare solo, chant), Bob Daisley (basse, chant) et Dannie Davidson (batterie) . L'album est salué pour ses guitares tranchantes, ses structures mélodiques expansives et son groove puissant, le tout servi par un jeu collectif remarquable .

Wide Open est un exemple achevé de hard rock psychédélique underground à son expression la plus inventive et la plus puissante. Formed in Sydney in 1970, Kahvas Jute issued their sole album Wide Open in January 1971 on Infinity Records. The lineup featured Dennis Wilson (guitar, vocals), Tim Gaze (lead guitar, vocals), Bob Daisley (bass, vocals), and Dannie Davidson (drums). Celebrated for its dual-guitar attack, melodic depth, and tight rhythm section, Wide Open is recognized as one of Australia's premier late‑60s/early‑70s psychedelic‑prog albums.

Wide Open is a consummate example of underground psychedelic hard rock at its most inventive and powerful expression. As the title suggests, Wide Open is a free-flowing and expansive musical blending of rock, blues and jazz, with a touch of acid folk thrown in for good measure. It's a very English-influenced sound but far from being a slavish copy of the british model, the album bears a uniquely Australia flavor.
