Parrish & Gurvitz est un duo rock britannique formé en 1971 par deux musiciens chevronnés : Paul Gurvitz (basse, chant) et Brian Parrish (guitare, chant). Leur parcours s’était déjà croisé dans les années 60 au sein de groupes comme The Londoners et The Knack (à ne pas confondre avec le groupe américain du même nom).
Après la dissolution du groupe The Gun, connu pour le tube "Race with the Devil", Paul Gurvitz décide de s’associer à Brian Parrish pour former un projet orienté vers un rock mélodique, influencé par le folk et la West Coast américaine. Leur unique album éponyme, Parrish & Gurvitz, est produit par George Martin (producteur des Beatles), et sort sous le label Regal Zonophone en 1971.
L’album bénéficie de la participation de musiciens de renom comme Mike Kellie (ex-Spooky Tooth), Micky Gallagher(futur Blockheads) et Rick Wills (futur Foreigner), contribuant à une production soignée et riche en arrangements. On y trouve des chansons aux harmonies vocales raffinées, des guitares limpides et une écriture marquée par une grande sensibilité mélodique.
Un second album fut enregistré, mais jamais publié à l’époque. Il faudra attendre 2006 pour découvrir ces bandes sous le titre The Parrish & Gurvitz Band.
Après leur séparation, Paul Gurvitz poursuivit sa carrière dans Three Man Army avec son frère Adrian, puis dans le Baker Gurvitz Army avec le batteur légendaire Ginger Baker. De son côté, Brian Parrish rejoindra Badger, groupe formé avec Tony Kaye, ex-claviériste de Yes.

Parrish & Gurvitz was a British rock duo formed in 1971 by Paul Gurvitz (bass, vocals) and Brian Parrish (guitar, vocals), both veterans of the London music scene. They had previously played together in the 1960s in bands like The Londoners and The Knack (UK version).
Following the breakup of his previous band The Gun, best known for their hit "Race with the Devil," Paul Gurvitz teamed up with Brian Parrish to launch a new project. The result was the self-titled album Parrish & Gurvitz, released in 1971 on the Regal Zonophone label and produced by George Martin.
The album blends elements of rock and folk, with clear influences from the American West Coast sound. It features top-tier session musicians including Mike Kellie (formerly of Spooky Tooth), Micky Gallagher (later of Ian Dury’s Blockheads), and Rick Wills (later of Foreigner), adding depth and polish to the recording.
Though a second album was recorded, it remained unreleased until 2006, when it was finally issued under the name The Parrish & Gurvitz Band.
After the duo disbanded, Paul Gurvitz went on to form Three Man Army with his brother Adrian, and later joined forces with Ginger Baker in Baker Gurvitz Army. Brian Parrish continued his journey by joining the band Badger, alongside Tony Kaye, former keyboardist of Yes.
