The Hook était un groupe de rock psychédélique américain formé à la fin des années 1960, originaire de Californie et issu de la scène folk-rock, notamment du groupe The Leaves. Leur musique se distingue par une fusion entre le rock psychédélique, le blues rock et une énergie brute évoquant Cream ou Jimi Hendrix. La formation comprenait Bobby Arlin à la guitare (ancien membre de The Leaves), Buddy Sklar à la basse, et Craig Boyd à la batterie.
En 1968, ils publient leur seul album, Will Grab You, sous le label UNI Records. L’opus est une déclaration sonore de la contre-culture californienne, porté par des guitares fuzz, des riffs acérés et une rythmique percutante. Malgré des compositions solides et une présence marquante, le groupe reste éphémère et se dissout peu après, laissant derrière lui un album devenu culte auprès des amateurs de rock underground.

The Hook was an American psychedelic rock band formed in the late 1960s, emerging from the California folk-rock scene, particularly from the group The Leaves. Their music blended psychedelic rock and blues rock with raw, energetic performances reminiscent of Cream or Jimi Hendrix. The band consisted of Bobby Arlin on guitar (formerly of The Leaves), Buddy Sklar on bass, and Craig Boyd on drums.
In 1968, they released their only album, Will Grab You, on UNI Records. The record is a sonic snapshot of the Californian counterculture, characterized by fuzz-drenched guitars, sharp riffs, and driving rhythms. Although the band had solid compositions and a powerful sound, they disbanded shortly after, leaving behind a cult classic cherished by underground rock fans.
