Storyteller est un groupe britannique de folk-rock actif au début des années 1970, formé autour de musiciens à la fois chanteurs, auteurs et compositeurs : Caroline Attard (chant), Terry Durham (chant, paroles), Roger Moon (guitare acoustique, chant), Mike Rogers (guitare acoustique, chant) et Chris Belshaw (basse, chant).

Leur premier album éponyme, Storyteller, voit le jour en 1970, offrant un mélange élégant de folk acoustique et d’harmonies vocales raffinées. Ce disque révèle une musique intimiste, influencée tant par la tradition britannique que par la scène folk américaine.

En 1971, ils sortent un deuxième album, More Pages, produit par Andy Bown (futur membre de Status Quo). Ce second opus est plus ambitieux, incorporant des touches de rock progressif et des arrangements plus étoffés. On y retrouve des contributions notables de musiciens invités comme Henry Spinetti (batterie), Harold Beckett (trompette et bugle), ce qui enrichit considérablement la texture sonore.

Malgré la qualité artistique évidente de leurs deux albums, Storyteller ne parvient pas à s’imposer sur la scène grand public et se dissout peu après 1971. Après la séparation du groupe, Caroline Attard et Chris Belshaw poursuivent leur collaboration musicale avec Andy Bown sur son album Sweet William.

Aujourd’hui, les albums de Storyteller sont réhabilités par les amateurs de folk-rock, notamment pour leurs arrangements soignés et leur authenticité. More Pages est devenu un album recherché, apprécié pour sa sincérité et son atmosphère délicate.

Storyteller was a British folk-rock group active in the early 1970s, composed of talented vocalists and musicians: Caroline Attard (vocals), Terry Durham (vocals, lyrics), Roger Moon (acoustic guitar, vocals), Mike Rogers (acoustic guitar, vocals), and Chris Belshaw (bass, vocals).

Their self-titled debut album, Storyteller, released in 1970, showcased delicate folk textures and harmonious vocal interplay, drawing from both British and American folk traditions.

In 1971, they released their second album, More Pages, produced by Andy Bown, later of Status Quo. This album marked an evolution in sound, blending folk roots with progressive rock elements and fuller arrangements. Guest musicians such as Henry Spinetti (drums) and Harold Beckett (trumpet, flugelhorn) contributed to its lush sound.

Despite the musical richness of their work, Storyteller disbanded shortly after the release of More Pages. Caroline Attard and Chris Belshaw later collaborated with Andy Bown on his solo album Sweet William.

Today, Storyteller’s albums are appreciated by collectors and folk-rock enthusiasts for their authentic tone and graceful compositions, with More Pages standing out as a hidden gem of the early 70s British folk-rock scene.
