Jack Grunsky est un auteur-compositeur-interprète d'origine austro-canadienne, né le 1er juillet 1945 à Graz, en Autriche. Il a émigré au Canada en 1951 et a rapidement trouvé sa voie dans la musique. Après avoir terminé ses études secondaires à Toronto en 1966, Grunsky retourne en Autriche pour étudier à l'Académie des arts de Vienne, où il fonde le groupe folk "Jack's Angels". Le groupe connaît un succès notable en Europe, enregistrant quatre albums avant de se séparer en 1968.
En 1970, Grunsky se lance en solo avec son premier album, "Toronto", enregistré à Londres dans les studios De Lane Lea. L'album mêle habilement les influences folk et rock, avec des titres comme "A Better Look At Toronto" et "Children in a Game". Il est également marqué par la participation de musiciens renommés tels qu'Alexis Korner et Mick Taylor des Rolling Stones. Après cet album, Grunsky poursuit sa carrière en Allemagne avec trois autres albums sous le label Kuckuck, avant de revenir au Canada en 1974. Là, il se réinvente en tant que compositeur et interprète de musique pour enfants, ce qui lui vaut plusieurs prix Juno.

Jack Grunsky is an Austro-Canadian singer-songwriter born on July 1, 1945, in Graz, Austria. He immigrated to Canada in 1951 and quickly found his calling in music. After completing his secondary education in Toronto in 1966, Grunsky returned to Austria to study at the Academy of Arts in Vienna, where he founded the folk band "Jack's Angels." The band enjoyed notable success in Europe, recording four albums before disbanding in 1968.
In 1970, Grunsky went solo with his debut album, "Toronto," recorded in London at De Lane Lea Studios. The album blends folk and rock influences, with tracks like "A Better Look At Toronto" and "Children in a Game." It also features renowned musicians like Alexis Korner and Mick Taylor of the Rolling Stones. Following this album, Grunsky continued his career in Germany with three more albums under the Kuckuck label, before returning to Canada in 1974. There, he reinvented himself as a composer and performer of children's music, earning several Juno Awards in the process.
