Man - Man (1971)

Man is the third studio album by the Welsh psychedelic/progressive rock band Man and was released March 1971. It was the first album by this line-up, Terry Williams having replaced Jeff Jones on drums, while Martin Ace replaced Ray Williams on bass. Reviews were mixed, particularly regarding the long tracks "Would the Christians...." and "Alchemist" which were an attempt to recreate some of the longer improvised jams that the band performed on stage, but which did not have the same impact on vinyl.

Man est le troisième album studio du groupe de rock psychédélique et progressif gallois Man, sorti en mars 1971. C'est le premier album de ce line-up, Terry Williams ayant remplacé Jeff Jones à la batterie, tandis que Martin Ace remplace Ray Williams à la basse. The album is darker, more broodingly introspective but also heavier, shorn of the first disc’s contentious orchestrations.

Burnin Red Ivanhoe was formed back in 1967, and that makes them one of the first Scandinavian prog bands. Their style was quite original from the start, blending jazz-rock with R&B, blues, psychedelia etc. their debut from 1969 (double album) M 144. Most of Burnin Red Ivanhoe's albums have that certain Scandinavian touch, similar to early 70's prog groups such as Wigwam, Culpeper's Ochard.

Playback was an album recorded by The Appletree Theatre in 1967. The project was set up by brothers Terry and John Boylan. It was written, directed and performed by the Boylan brothers, supported by leading jazz session musicians including Larry Coryell and Eric Gale. Playback was essentially a loosely woven concept album, divided into three acts, an overture, and an epilogue, with pop songs linked by vocal narratives and snatches of music, including elements of jazz, acid rock, and classical music. It was released on the Verve Forecast label in the US and UK in 1968, with a different cover to the UK re-release from 1972 on the MGM Records label.

Pacific Drift, a short-lived band from Manchester, released their only album Feelin' Free in 1970. Blending psychedelic rock, progressive pop, and elements of soul and folk, the group delivered a unique and ambitious sound reminiscent of Traffic, The Moody Blues, or The Zombies. Led by Graham Harrop’s soulful vocals and strong vocal harmonies, the album features rich instrumentation with swirling keyboards, melodic guitar work, and tight rhythm sections. Though it failed to gain mainstream traction, Feelin' Free has since become a cult gem among fans of British psychedelic and progressive rock.

The Gods - Genesis (1968)

After leaving Stevenage based R'n'B outfit The Jimmy Brown Sound in early 1965 keyboardist / guitarist / vocalist Ken Hensley formed The Gods with Mick Taylor (guitar), John Glasscock (bass / vocals) and Brian Glasscock (drums). However this line up only lasted until June 1967 when Taylor quit to join John Mayalls Bluesbreakers and then The Rolling Stones. He was replaced by Greg Lake a few time. With Greg Lake leaving in the summer of 1968 to form King Crimson (and later Emerson Lake And Palmer) John Glasscock returned to the line up and the band released the album "Genesis".

Mirkwood is a very obscure band from Dover, Kent, England. The band was formed in early 1971 by Jack Castle and Mick Morris. This record was originally released in 1973 and has been restored from a pristine vinyl copy as the original master tapes do not exist anymore. The band plays a raw edged guitar driven progressive rock.

Mirkwood est un groupe très obscur de Douvres dans le Kent en Angleterre. Le groupe a été formé au début de 1971 par Jack Castle et Mick Morris. Time - Before There Was... Time (1968)

These 35 minutes of music were recorded in January 1968, when Tom McFaul, Lynn David Newton, Richard Stanley, and David Rosenboom drove twice from Buffalo to a recording studio in Toronto. Their original brand of psychedelic music had already gelled, as songs like "Introductory Lines" and "Sad Benjamin" illustrate. The 11 tracks included here go back and forth between post-Sgt. Pepper's psychedelic pop and acid folk with medieval leanings.
