Moontan is the ninth album by Dutch rock band Golden Earring, released in 1973 . It contains the radio hit "Radar Love". Several passages on the album includes flute, strings, brass and moog, and this together with the length and complexity of the songs makes this a lot more than your average boogie hard rock.

Randy Holden - Population II (1970)

Holden's first solo album (he would not release any more music for about 25 years) was a strange bridge between psychedelia and heavy metal. At times these lurching, extended songs sound like sub-Jimi Hendrix noodling. But at the same time they sound genuinely more sinister and feverish than the by-the-numbers heavy metal soloing that would become so popular starting in the early 1970s.

The Tripsichord Music Box - The Tripsichord Music Box (1971)

The Tripsichord Music Box was an American psychedelic rock group of the 1960s. They were managed by Matthew Katz, who also worked with Jefferson Airplane, Moby Grape and It's a Beautiful Day. Led by guitarist and singer/songwriter David Zandonatti, Tripsichord recorded a full-length LP and several singles for Katz's San Francisco Sound label.

The Tripsichord Music Box était un groupe de rock psychédélique américain des années 1960. Ils étaient dirigés par Matthew Katz, qui a également travaillé avec Jefferson Airplane, Moby Grape et It's a Beautiful Day. Rare Earth - Ma (1973)

Rare Earth began as an R&B band called the Sunliners in Detroit in 1961. Of the musicians who would be part of the band dubbed Rare Earth, only sax player Gil Bridges and drummer Pete Rivera were present. John Parrish joined on bass in 1962. Rod Richards became a guitarist with the group in 1966. Keyboardist Kenny James came into the fold the same year. This album shows how Motown took chances on white groups as well as the black musicians & singers. 

Rare Earth a commencé comme un groupe de R & B appelé les Sunliners à Detroit en 1961. Dark - Dark (1972)

“Dark Round the Edges” is one of the world’s rarest rock records, . Only 13 such albums were ever produced in this coloured format out of an original total production of 64 albums (the remainder being black and white cover). The black-and-white versions occasionally (though still rarely) appear for sale, typically commanding prices of around £8,000. Naturally, this  colour version is expected to sell for considerably more.

"Dark Round the Edges" est l'un des disques de rock les plus rares du monde. Seuls 13 de ces albums ont été produits dans ce format coloré sur une production totale originale de 64 albums (le reste étant une couverture en noir et blanc). Les versions en noir et blanc apparaissent occasionnellement (mais rarement encore) à la vente, avec des prix généralement de l'ordre de 8 000 £. Naturellement, cette version en couleur devrait se vendre considérablement plus cher.

Bobby Allen Hodge, aka Catfish Hodge, born in 1944 in Detroit, Michigan, is an American bluesman. He is the older brother of Dallas Hodge, also guitarist and singer, who has played with Canned Heat and Steve Marriott.

Somewhere Down The Line' is the first of two albums by a group that was a contemporary of fellow Island Records' signing Free and created a similarly, powerful blues sound.Produced by Blackwell, 1968's "Somewhere Down the Line" showcased the band's intense commitment blues genre. The only non-blues selection was a strange cover of Stephen Stills 'Rock and Roll Woman'.

Somewhere Down The Line est le premier de deux albums d'un groupe qui était un contemporain de d'Island Records, qui avait signé Free, et a créé un son de blues puissant et similaire. Produit par Blackwell, "Somewhere Down the Line" a montré l'engagement intense du groupe dans le genre blues. Head Machine - Orgasm (1970)

The original Machine Head's line up is :  John Glascock (John Leadhen) - bass Ken Hensley (Ken Leslie) - vocals, keyboards, guitar Joe Konas (Brian Poole) - guitar Lee Kerslake (Lee Poole) - drums .This album is now a rare collectors' item, not least because it appears to have been recorded by The Gods under pseudonym. Musically it veers towards heavy rock with most tracks being pretty heavy with driving guitar work. Two tracks, I Can't Believe and You Tried to Take it All were later re-recorded for Toe Fat's debut album.

Mutzie - Light of Your Shadow (1970)

Mutzie was formed in Detroit, Michigan in 1970. Mutzie was the nickname given to Eric Levenberg, guitarist, lead singer, and elder brother of  this Michigan based quartet. Mutzie's lone album Light of Your Shadow, first released on the Sussex label is hard rock, a raw, stripped down combination of heavy guitar riffs, pounding organ fills, punchy horn breals and not always in tune vocals. The end result is an uneven mix of slightly blues based acid rock.

Mutzie a été formé à Detroit, au Michigan en 1970. Mutzie était le surnom donné à Eric Levenberg, guitariste, chanteur et frère aîné de ce quartet basé dans le Michigan. Le seul album de Mutzie, Light of Your Shadow, sorti pour la première fois sur le label Sussex, est du hard rock, une combinaison brute et dépouillée de lourds riffs de guitare, d'orgues martelés, de sons de cor et de chants. Flaming Ember - Sunshine (1971)

Flaming Ember were a white Rock group out of Detroit that was similar to Rare Earth in that they had a liking for Soul music. They had a series of hits in the early-1970s. Sunshine was released during the heyday of that success, and contains one of their biggest songs, I’m Not My Brother’s Keeper that can still be heard on some oldies stations today.

Big Brother Feat Ernie Joseph - Confusion (1970)

Influenced by the guitar sounds of Hendrix, Cream and Jeff Beck, The Bill Holmes produced Confusion is an incendiary classic of British blues style guitar rock. The band, not to be confused with the similarly named and of course more popular Big Brother and the Holding Company made a name for themselves as a great live performance, often encouraging audience participation. Their on stage energy comes across well on the record, resulting in a loose charismatic album that only slows down long enough to sing a serenade on "Wake Me In The Morning." The rest blisters through with searing guitar virtuosity from Ernie Joseph and an organ sound that shows no signs of prog's impending overindulgence. A rock record from start to finish.

Influencé par les sons de guitare de Hendrix, Cream et Jeff Beck, Confusion de Bill Holmes est un classique incendiaire du blues rock britannique. Le groupe, à ne pas confondre avec le bien sûr plus populaire Big Brother et la Holding Company, s'est fait un nom en tant que grand performer live, encourageant souvent la participation du public. Son énergie sur scène se révèle bien sur le disque, résultant en un album charismatique qui ralentit seulement assez longtemps pour chanter une sérénade sur "Wake Me In The Morning". Les autres morceaux se bousculent avec une virtuosité de guitare fulgurante de la part d'Ernie Joseph et un son d'orgue qui ne montre aucun signe d'une trop grande présence. Un disque de rock du début à la fin.

Junco Partners sprang from the same Newcastle music scene that launched Eric Burdon and the Animals.  Formed in 1964 (the name came from a famous blues song), the original line-up featured singers John Anderson and Ronnie Baker, guitarist Charles Harcourt, bassist David Sproat, keyboardist Peter Wallis, and drummer John Woods.

Quill - Quill (1970)

The bands largest claim to fame is likely its performance at The Woodstock Festival. The group was the first to perform at the festival. Unfortunately, because they were not featured on the Woodstock Festivals’ soundtrack or film, Cotillion lost much of its interest in promoting the band's first album. Because of the lack of promotion of this record, it faded into obscurity and was not well heard of outside of Boston. The fact that performances were not progressing and the album was not selling well, it created personal friction between band members and would soon create the demise of the band.

La plus grande notoriété de Quill vient probablement de sa performance au Festival de Woodstock. Le groupe a été le tout premier à se produire au festival. Malheureusement, parce qu'ils ne figuraient pas sur la bande-son ou le film de Woodstock, Cotillion Records perdit beaucoup de son intérêt pour la promotion du premier album du groupe. Ainsi en raison de défaut de publicité, cet enregistrement a disparu dans l'obscurité et n'a pas été écouté en dehors de Boston. Le fait que les performances ne progressaient pas et que l'album ne se vendait pas bien a vite créé des frictions personnelles entre les membres du groupe et allait bientôt entraîner sa disparition.

Very obscure UK band 1970's that were typical of the brass-spiced prog sound, except for one major difference: Linda Rothwell - a very talented strong voiced singer with a style that immediately draws comparisons to Grace Slick in Jefferson Airplane or Carol Grimes in Delivery. The others band members were all unknowns. Linda Rothwell did later record a single.

Michael Tschudin is taking his new group, Cynara, on the road to play rock clubs and music festivals free as a trailer for his debut record for Capitol. Tschudin's plan is to get as wide an audience as possible, and to give the group a chance to 'get it together'. Touring with Tschudin, who composed the songs for Cynara's first LP, are Jeff Watson (lead singer), Cal Hill (bass), Les Lumley (guitar) and Chip White (percussion).

Michael Tschudin emmène son nouveau groupe, Cynara, sur la route pour jouer dans des clubs de rock et des festivals de musique gratuits ceci comme bande-annonce avant son premier album pour Capitol. Le plan de Tschudin est d'obtenir un public aussi large que possible, et de donner au groupe une chance de cohésion. Landslide - Two Sided Fantasy (1972)

When Landslide recorded their album Two Sided Fantasy on Capitol Records, the band and the label probably had no clue that everything would end so fast. The album became a rare collector’s item because of their lack of success. This was in spite of that a solid rock band that had a sound comparable to Cream and also to Santana at its first.

Lorsque Landslide a enregistré son album Two Sided Fantasy sur Capitol Records, le groupe et le label n'avaient probablement aucune idée que tout finirait si vite. L'album est devenu un objet de collection rare en raison de leur manque de succès. C'était malgré tout un groupe de rock solide qui avait un son comparable à Cream et aussi à Santana à ses débuts.

Brigg - Brigg (1973)

Outstanding album from a Northumberland, Pennsylvania trio with an incredibly vibe. Roughly half of record is heavy rock, like a second rate Grand Funk or Frost, and these songs are just medium, with "If Only You Could See Me Now" being the best by way of it's off kilter timing and phased-out wah guitar.The other half is totally loaded, extended, with very nice ambiant psych music.

Album exceptionnel d'un trio de Northumberland, en Pennsylvanie, avec une atmosphèree incroyable. Environ la moitié du disque est un rock lourd, comme un second Grand Funk ou Frost, et ces chansons sont juste moyennes, "If Only You Could See Me Now" étant la meilleure en raison de son timing et de sa guitare wah-wah progressive. L'autre moitié est totalement chargée, intense, avec une très belle musique psychique ambiante.
