Road est l’unique album éponyme du power trio formé par Noel Redding, ex-bassiste du Jimi Hendrix Experience, accompagné du guitariste Rod Richards (ex-Rare Earth) et du batteur Leslie Sampson. Le disque navigue entre heavy psyché, hard rock musclé et improvisations inspirées, parfois proches du jam. En sept titres, Road livre une musique brute, saturée et ancrée dans son époque, avec une vraie énergie de scène. Peu connu mais prisé des amateurs de rock lourd des 70s.

Road is the sole release from the short-lived power trio featuring Noel Redding (formerly of the Jimi Hendrix Experience), guitarist Rod Richards (ex-Rare Earth), and drummer Leslie Sampson. Blending heavy psychedelia, hard rock, and extended jamming, the album delivers raw, fuzz-drenched performances filled with ‘70s spirit. Though it didn’t gain mainstream attention, Road remains a cult favorite among early heavy rock aficionados.

Quiver - Gone In The Morning (1972)

Quiver were a wonderful band too see live in a small, smokey London pub. Live, the band would often take their songs and spin them into long jam sessions not unlike the Dead. No album captures Renwick's marvellous improvisatory skills, but 'Gone in the Morning' on this album comes close. Great music, great memories! Oh, and I should add that Quiver existed and made their two albums before they joined up with the Sutherland Brothers. The latter had some great songs but needed a quality band behind them....

Quiver était un merveilleux groupe à voir en live dans un petit pub londonien enfumé. Et là le groupe embarquait chaque chansonnant de longues jam sessions longues qui n'étaient pas sans rappeler celles du Dead. Aucun album ne capture cette merveilleuse capacité d'improvisation, encore que, sur cet album, 'Gone in the Morning' s'en rapproche beaucoup. Quiver est apparu et a fait leurs deux albums avant de rejoindre avec les Sutherland Brothers. Ces derniers avait quelques grandes chansons, mais avait besoin d'un groupe de qualité derrière eux .....

Elf - Elf (1972)

Elf is a deeply-rooted blues/boogie debut album that features a still relatively unknown frontman, Ronald Padavona, better known as Ronnie James Dio on subsequent albums. Playing bass, as well as singing in a lower pitch, he is the perfect fit for this type of music. Hooch Koochie Lady sounds a little like something from The Rolling Stones, Rod Stewart, or even Free. This album isn't exactly expertly produced (it sounds a bit raw), but it seems to work pretty well for a blues album.

Elf est un premier album de blues/boogie profondément enraciné qui dispose d'un chanteur encore relativement inconnu, Ronald Padavona, mieux connu par la suite comme Ronnie James Dio. Son jeu de basse, ainsi que sa voix dans un ton assez grave sont la solution idéale pour ce type de musique. 'H hoche Koochie Lady' sonne un peu comme les  Stones, Rod Stewart, ou même Free. Cet album est pas exactement une production léchée (ça sonne un peu cru), mais il arrive à bien fonctionner pour un album de blues.

Rockin' Horse - Yes It Is (1970)

The goal of Rockin' Horse was to revive the classic Liverpool sound -- in that regard, Yes It Is is a phenomenal album. Jimmy Campbell and ex-Merseybeats bassist Billy Kinsley delivered up a record with a good rootsy feel to everything here, and the stuff that fits into a Merseybeat groove is authentic right down to the roughness in the bass work. Some of the rest is closer in spirit to what the Band shot for on Music From Big Pink and their self-titled album.

Le but de Rockin' Horse était de faire revivre le son classique de Liverpool - à cet égard, oui, c'est un album phénoménal. Jimmy Campbell et le bassiste ex-Merseybeats Billy Kinsley ont livré un enregistrement avec un son qui vient des racnes, et leur production groovy à la Merseybeat est juste authentique jusqu'à la rugosité dans le travail de la basse. Certes le reste est très proche dans l'esprit de ce que the Band a tiré pour le Music From Big Pink et leur album éponyme.
