Flood The Engine - Flood The Engine (2013)

Bill Leverty is best known as the lead guitarist for the band Firehouse.  Jimmy Kunes has spent time behind the microphone for both Savoy Brown and Cactus.  The two men met nearly thirty years ago and became good friends.  One thing they never did, however, was record an album or put a band together… that is, until now! Deep Purple is not so far.

Blackhorse - Blackhorse (1979)

Blackhorse from Texas only released one album in 1979. They were in the same territory as ZZ top and Point Blank, playing near flawless “Texas Boogie”. The album is utterly unbelievable in its rich and devilish guitar riffs and very unique as it fuses hard rock and southern flair.  If you like heavy Southern Rock, along the lines of Molly Hatchet, Blackfoot or Doc Holiday, then you´re gonna dig this.

Blackhorse, groupe du Texas, a sorti un seul album, en 1979. Ils étaient dans le même territoire que ZZ Top et Point Blank, jouant un "Texas Boogie" sans faille. Point Blank - Second Season (1977)

With this "Second Season" that arrives in record stores in 1977, Point Blank confirms that it is one of the best combos of Heavy Southern rock of the decade. But beware, in the section of desperados arsonists. Because if the cover deceives his world, letting the neophyte believe in a Country-rock cake, between the Eagles and the Charlie Daniels Band, the quintet did not give up. Far from there.

Ian Matthews - If You Saw Thro' My Eyes (1971)

Finding him reunited with former bandmates Sandy Denny and Richard Thompson this album features many fantastic originals and three well chosen covers, including Richard Farina's "Reno Nevada" and exemplifies Matthews' unique ability to mix folk, country, blues and pop. Point Blank - Point Blank (1976)

They are five in the early seventies, the great time of southern rock, two pistoleros on guitar, Rusty Burns and Kim Davis, a little tingy Phil Petty on bass, a singer, John O'Daniel. As early as 1972, they toured with Johnny Winter, ZZ Top, all Texan bands sending electric blues. They have the same management as the bearded ones, which will quickly pose a problem, because ZZ Top will be promoted, and Point Blank a little forgotten. The sound of the band is two guitars that cross, provoke, struggle, and then the voice well blues, well southern O'Daniel, the man who swallows the rocks and thorns of cactus Texas pushing them with big swigs of bourbon.

See For Miles reissued Barefoot Jerry's third and fourth albums, Watchin' TV and You Can't Get Off with Your Shoes On, on a single CD in 1997. All most people know about Barefoot Jerry is that they are mentioned in Charlie Daniel's "The South's Gonna Do It Again." That is all this reviewer knew about them until he discovered "You Can't Get Off With Your Shoes On" in a used record store about 16 years ago. It was simply one of the finest Country (some would say "Southern") Rock albums ever recorded.

See For Miles a réédité les troisièmes et quatrième albums de Barefoot Jerry, "Watchin' TV" et "You Can not Get Off With Uour Shoes On ", sur un seul CD en 1997. .38 Special - .38 Special (1977)

Initially, .38 Special were one of many Southern rock bands in the vein of the Allman Brothers and Lynyrd Skynyrd; in fact, the band was led by Donnie Van Zant, the brother of Skynyrd's leader, Ronnie Van Zant. After releasing a couple of albums of straight-ahead Southern boogie, the band revamped its sound to fall halfway between country-fried blues-rock and driving, arena-ready hard rock.
