Formé à l’origine au début des années 1970, Mudcrutch est le groupe dans lequel Tom Petty a fait ses premières armes avant de fonder les Heartbreakers. En 2008, plus de 30 ans après leur séparation, les membres originaux (Tom Petty, Mike Campbell, Benmont Tench, Randall Marsh et Tom Leadon) se retrouvent pour enfin enregistrer un véritable album studio sous le nom de Mudcrutch. Loin d’être un simple exercice nostalgique, ce disque mêle avec finesse rock sudiste, country et americana. On y retrouve une énergie brute et chaleureuse, nourrie par une camaraderie intacte et une grande sincérité musicale.

Originally formed in the early 1970s, Mudcrutch was Tom Petty’s pre-Heartbreakers band. In 2008, after more than three decades apart, the original lineup—Tom Petty, Mike Campbell, Benmont Tench, Randall Marsh, and Tom Leadon—reunited to finally record their debut studio album. Blending Southern rock, country, and Americana, the album feels organic and heartfelt.
