Après avoir fondé les groupes cultes Misfits et Samhain, Glenn Danzig se lance dans une nouvelle aventure musicale en 1987 en formant le groupe éponyme Danzig. Avec une voix grave et charismatique, des textes sombres et une esthétique inspirée du blues, du heavy metal et du rock gothique, il s’impose avec un style unique. Le premier album Danzig, produit par Rick Rubin, marque un tournant dans le hard rock américain. Brut et dépouillé, le disque dégage une atmosphère occulte et menaçante. Porté par le tube « Mother », ce premier opus a posé les bases du son Danzig : lourd, viscéral et envoûtant.

After leading the legendary punk and horror rock bands Misfits and Samhain, Glenn Danzig launched his self-titled band in 1987. With his deep, commanding voice and a fusion of bluesy metal and dark rock, he forged a distinctive sound. Produced by Rick Rubin, Danzig (1988) became a landmark debut album, blending stripped-down heavy rock with occult themes and raw energy. Featuring the iconic track “Mother”, the album defined the band’s dark, heavy aesthetic and laid the foundation for Danzig’s cult status in the metal scene.
