Moses Dillard, né le 30 septembre 1946 à Greenville, en Caroline du Sud, a été un musicien et guitariste américain influent dans les années 1960 et 1970. Il a commencé sa carrière musicale en tant que tromboniste à l'église United House of Prayer For All People, puis a appris la guitare sous la direction de Bill Dover, instructeur de musique à Sterling High School. Dillard a ensuite rejoint le groupe du chanteur soul local Cornell Blakely avant de former son propre ensemble, les Dynamic Showmen.
En 1969, Dillard fonde le groupe Moses Dillard And The Tex-Town Display, qui comprend notamment un jeune Peabo Bryson. Cette formation mélange des influences soul, funk et jazz. La même année, ils enregistrent l'album "Now!" sous le label Tex-Town Records. Cet album rare présente une combinaison de morceaux vocaux et instrumentaux, avec des titres tels que "Are You For Real", "We Got A Long Way To Go" et "Tribute To Wes".
Après la sortie de "Now!", Moses Dillard poursuit sa carrière musicale en collaborant avec divers artistes et en travaillant comme guitariste à Muscle Shoals. Moses Dillard, born on September 30, 1946, in Greenville, South Carolina, was an influential American musician and guitarist during the 1960s and 1970s. He began his musical career as a trombonist at the United House of Prayer For All People Church before learning guitar under the guidance of Bill Dover, a music instructor at Sterling High School. Dillard later joined the local soul singer Cornell Blakely's band before forming his own group, the Dynamic Showmen.
In 1969, Dillard founded Moses Dillard And The Tex-Town Display, which included a young Peabo Bryson. This formation blended soul, funk, and jazz influences. That same year, they recorded the album "Now!" under Tex-Town Records. This rare album features a combination of vocal and instrumental tracks, including titles such as "Are You For Real," "We Got A Long Way To Go," and "Tribute To Wes."
After the release of "Now!", Moses Dillard continued his musical career by collaborating with various artists and working as a guitarist at Muscle Shoals. He also formed the duo Dillard & Boyce with Jesse Boyce in the early 1980s. Dillard passed away on July 14, 1993, in Nashville, Tennessee.
