Highway était un groupe britannique originaire de Sunderland, actif au début des années 1970. Le groupe était composé de Jon Elstar (chant, guitare acoustique, harmonica), Ray Minhinnett (guitare électrique, slide guitar, guitare acoustique 12 cordes, chant), Jim Hall (piano, claviers, synthétiseur, chant), John Gordon (basse, guitare acoustique, chant) et Ian Byron (batterie, percussions, chant).
En 1974, Highway a sorti son premier album éponyme, Highway, enregistré aux Island Studios et aux Olympic Sound Studios à Londres. L'album présente une fusion de country, blues et rock, reflétant l'influence de la musique américaine sur le groupe. Parmi les morceaux notables de l'album figurent "Silver City", "Song for a Friend" et "Cajun Queen".
Malgré la qualité de leur musique, Highway n'a pas rencontré un succès commercial significatif, ce qui a conduit à la dissolution du groupe peu après la sortie de leur album. Aujourd'hui, cet album est considéré comme une rareté parmi les collectionneurs de musique rock des années 1970.

Highway was a British band from Sunderland, active in the early 1970s. The band consisted of Jon Elstar (vocals, acoustic guitar, harmonica), Ray Minhinnett (electric guitar, slide guitar, 12-string acoustic guitar, vocals), Jim Hall (piano, keyboards, synthesizer, vocals), John Gordon (bass, acoustic guitar, vocals), and Ian Byron (drums, percussion, vocals).
In 1974, Highway released their self-titled debut album, Highway, recorded at Island Studios and Olympic Sound Studios in London. The album features a blend of country, blues, and rock, reflecting the American musical influences on the band. Notable tracks include "Silver City," "Song for a Friend," and "Cajun Queen."
Despite the quality of their music, Highway did not achieve significant commercial success, leading to the band's dissolution shortly after the album's release. Today, this album is considered a rarity among 1970s rock music collectors.
