McKendree Spring est un groupe américain de folk-rock progressif formé en 1969, principalement actif durant les années 1970. Originaire de Glens Falls, dans l'État de New York, le groupe était initialement composé de Fran McKendree (chant, guitare acoustique), Martin Slutsky (guitare électrique), Michael Dreyfuss (violon électrique, synthétiseur Moog) et Larry Tucker (basse). Après le départ de Tucker, Fred Holman a repris la basse, suivi plus tard par Chris Bishop. Le groupe a également intégré le batteur Carson Michaels, renforçant ainsi leur sonorité.
En 1975, McKendree Spring a sorti l'album Get Me to the Country sous le label Pye Records. Cet album marque une transition vers un son plus country-rock, s’éloignant légèrement de leurs débuts folk progressifs.
L’album a rencontré un bon accueil critique et commercial, atteignant la 118ᵉ place du Billboard 200 – leur plus grand succès dans les charts. La chanson "Give All You've Got To Give", avec son introduction percutante en break de batterie, est particulièrement appréciée des amateurs de grooves.

McKendree Spring was an American progressive folk-rock band formed in 1969 and primarily active throughout the 1970s. Originating from Glens Falls, New York, the original lineup included Fran McKendree (vocals, acoustic guitar), Martin Slutsky (electric guitar), Michael Dreyfuss (electric violin, Moog synthesizer), and Larry Tucker (bass). After Tucker's departure, Fred Holman took over on bass, followed later by Chris Bishop. The band also added drummer Carson Michaels, enriching their sonic palette.
In 1975, McKendree Spring released the album Get Me to the Country under Pye Records. This release marked a shift toward a more country-rock-oriented sound, diverging somewhat from their earlier progressive folk roots.
The album was well received, reaching #118 on the Billboard 200 – their highest charting record. The track "Give All You've Got To Give" stands out for its powerful drum break intro, loved by groove enthusiasts.
McKendree Spring earned a strong reputation as a live act, sharing the stage with legendary artists like The Everly Brothers, Fleetwood Mac, Frank Zappa & The Mothers of Invention, Elton John, Ike & Tina Turner, Joni Mitchell, Randy Newman, The Byrds, Jethro Tull, and Van Morrison.
Following the release of Too Young to Feel This Old in 1976, the band disbanded. They later reunited in 2007 for occasional performances with a renewed focus on their folk roots.
