Originaire du New Jersey, Victoria est un obscur projet psychédélique formé autour de Greg Ruban. Unique et profondément personnel, l’album fut enregistré en 1971 juste avant que Ruban ne parte combattre au Vietnam. À son retour, marqué par les traumatismes de la guerre, il entreprit un voyage en moto de trois mois à travers l’Europe pour promouvoir le disque — sans succès. L’album resta inédit jusqu’à sa réédition confidentielle par Shadoks Music.
Mêlant harmonies féminines éthérées, cuivres titanesques et guitares distordues, Victoria alterne entre ballades rêveuses et psychédélisme orageux. This psychedelic gem from New Jersey was recorded in 1971 by Greg Ruban, just before he was drafted to Vietnam. Traumatised on return, Ruban took the unreleased album on a motorcycle journey through Europe to promote it—but the dream failed.
Victoria remained unreleased for decades. The music blends dreamy female vocals, massive horn sections, and fuzzed-out guitars. Sweet pop turns into dark psych power in a seamless, emotional swirl. It's a forgotten classic—restored at last thanks to Shadoks Music.
