Burn (1974) marks the beginning of Deep Purple’s “Mark III” era, introducing David Coverdale on vocals and Glenn Hughes on bass and vocals. While retaining their hard rock core, the band explored funkier, blues-infused sounds that would become a hallmark of this lineup. Recorded in Montreux and produced by Martin Birch, the album received acclaim for its fresh energy and powerful tracks, especially the fiery opener “Burn,” which quickly became a live staple.
