Blue Jug était un groupe américain de Southern Rock actif dans les années 1970, mêlant des influences de country, blues et rock classique. Originaires du sud des États-Unis, les membres du groupe s'inscrivaient dans la lignée d’artistes tels que The Allman Brothers Band, Lynyrd Skynyrd et The Marshall Tucker Band, avec une touche plus marquée de soul et de gospel dans leurs harmonies vocales.

En 1975, le groupe sort son premier album éponyme Blue Jug sous le label Capricorn Records, un label emblématique du Southern Rock qui produisait également des artistes comme The Allman Brothers et Wet Willie. L'album contient un mélange de rock sudiste, country, boogie et ballades soul.

Bien que l’album n’ait pas rencontré un grand succès commercial, il est aujourd’hui recherché par les collectionneurs et amateurs de rock sudiste des années 70.

Le son de Blue Jug était marqué par une instrumentation riche :

In 1975, the band released their self-titled debut album Blue Jug under Capricorn Records, a label emblematic of Southern Rock that also produced artists like The Allman Brothers and Wet Willie. The album features a mix of southern rock, country, boogie, and soulful ballads.

Although the album did not achieve significant commercial success, it is now sought after by collectors and fans of 70s southern rock.

Blue Jug's sound was characterized by rich instrumentation:

• Electric and slide guitars for a bluesy and rock edge

• Pianos and Hammond B3 organs, typical of Southern Rock
