Severin Browne, né en 1949 à Francfort, est un auteur-compositeur-interprète américain issu d'une famille profondément musicale. Son père, jazzman passionné, et son frère aîné Jackson Browne, figure emblématique de la scène folk-rock californienne, ont fortement influencé son parcours artistique. Dès son plus jeune âge, Severin s'initie à divers instruments avant de se consacrer à la guitare et au piano.

En 1970, il rejoint Motown en tant qu'auteur-compositeur, devenant ainsi l'un des premiers artistes folk/country blancs du label. Son premier album éponyme, Severin Browne, sort en 1973. Produit par Larry Murray, l'album propose une fusion délicate de folk, pop et rock mélodique, mettant en avant des paroles introspectives et des arrangements subtils. Bien que l'album n'ait pas rencontré un succès commercial immédiat, il est aujourd'hui considéré comme un classique culte des années 70.

Severin Browne, born in 1949 in Frankfurt, is an American singer-songwriter from a deeply musical family. His father, a passionate jazz musician, and his older brother Jackson Browne, a prominent figure in the Californian folk-rock scene, greatly influenced his artistic journey. From a young age, Severin explored various instruments before focusing on guitar and piano.

In 1970, he joined Motown as a songwriter, becoming one of the label's first white folk/country artists. His self-titled debut album, Severin Browne, was released in 1973. Produced by Larry Murray, the album offers a delicate blend of folk, pop, and melodic rock, featuring introspective lyrics and subtle arrangements. Although the album didn't achieve immediate commercial success, it is now considered a cult classic of the 1970s.
