Baby Grand était un groupe américain de rock progressif et pop sophistiqué, actif à la fin des années 1970. Formé à New York, le groupe réunissait des musiciens talentueux tels que Rob Hyman (claviers, chant), Eric Bazilian (guitare, chant), David Kagan (chant principal), Carmine Rojas (basse) et David Prater (batterie). Leur musique, influencée par des artistes comme Steely Dan et Todd Rundgren, se caractérisait par des arrangements complexes mêlant rock, jazz et soul.
En 1977, ils sortent leur premier album éponyme sous le label Arista Records. Produit par Rick Chertoff, l'album présente une fusion de rock mélodique et de jazz fusion, avec des morceaux aux structures élaborées et aux harmonies vocales riches. Malgré une réception critique positive, l'album n'a pas rencontré un grand succès commercial. Cependant, il est devenu un objet de culte parmi les amateurs de rock sophistiqué des années 70.
Après la dissolution de Baby Grand, Rob Hyman et Eric Bazilian ont fondé The Hooters, groupe qui a connu un succès notable dans les années 1980.

Baby Grand was an American progressive and pop rock band active in the late 1970s. Formed in New York City, the group featured talented musicians including Rob Hyman (keyboards, vocals), Eric Bazilian (guitar, vocals), David Kagan (lead vocals), Carmine Rojas (bass), and David Prater (drums). Their music, influenced by artists like Steely Dan and Todd Rundgren, was known for its complex arrangements blending rock, jazz, and soul.
In 1977, they released their self-titled debut album under Arista Records. Produced by Rick Chertoff, the album showcased a fusion of melodic rock and jazz fusion, featuring intricate song structures and rich vocal harmonies. Despite positive critical reception, the album did not achieve significant commercial success. However, it has become a cult classic among fans of sophisticated 70s rock.
Following Baby Grand's disbandment, Rob Hyman and Eric Bazilian went on to form The Hooters, a band that gained notable success in the 1980s.
