Bloontz - Bloontz (1973)

Based in Houston, Texas, and originally known as The Blues Band Bloontz All Stars, the group brought together the talents of drummer Tony Braunagel, singer Andy Chapman, guitarist David Kealey, keyboardist Mike Montgomery and the former bassist of Blackwell, Terry Wilson. They settled in New York in 1972 and were shortened their name Bloontz, then signed a contract with the label Evolution. Produced by Ron Johnsen, the album Bloontz 1973 was well received. The nine tracks were varied and the performances were of a very good level. As Chapman singer had a voice that was almost perfect for hard rock orientated album, rough but quite commercial. Imagine if Paul Rodgers was born and raised in Texas. The other band members were also very good especially Kealey guitarist who deserves special mention for his brilliant guitar pieces.

Basé à Houston, au Texas, et à l'origine connu sous le nom The Blues Band Bloontz All Stars, le groupe réunissait les talents du batteur Tony Braunagel, du chanteur Andy Chapman, du guitariste David Kealey, du claviériste Mike Montgomery et de l'ancien bassiste des Blackwell, Terry Wilson. Ils s'installèrent à New York en 1972 et raccourcirent leur nom en Bloontz, puis signèrent un contrat avec le label Evolution. Produit par Ron Johnsen, l'album intitulé Bloontz de 1973 fut bien reçu. Les neuf pistes étaient très variées et les performances étaient d'un très bon niveau. Comme chanteur Chapman avait une voix qui était presque parfaite pour album orientée hard rock, rude mais tout à fait commerciale. Imaginez si Paul Rodgers était né et avait grandi au Texas. Les autres membres de la bande étaient aussi très bons notamment le guitariste Kealey qui mérite une mention spéciale pour ses solos particulèrement brillants.
