Stillwater - I Reserve The Night (1978)

So one might wonder like that after watching the film Almost Famous, Stillwater if the group is a real rock band ... Yes, no? First, these are actors playing in the film and even though we want to believe, it is not a genuine. What is certain is that the songs created by Peter Frampton for the occasion is a pure killing ... and a group named Stillwater exists. The proof is the second album, I Reserve the Night, recorded in 1978. The southern rock band formed in 1973 in West Robins (Georgia). Buddy Buie group of Atlanta Rhythm Section will produce the first album in the studio One in Doraville. This disc does not title and Stillwater launched into the adventure under the prestigious label Capricorn. They will turn and open to the cream of the groups at the top of Black Oak Arkansas Elvin Bishop, not to mention The Outlaws and Sea Level. It was heaven for them, especially since they were almost all year on the roads, plus interviews, radio shows, TV show and all that strong of a single that pranced in the top 100. Stillwater then returned to the studio to record the second album there I Reserve the Right. As the tour, the group will realize that albums are becoming very hard to find and record stores do not know that a new LP was released. The reason is simple: Capricorn went bankrupt and the dream will stop short. They will attempt to return to the studio to record a third album but the new manager will not up and no contract will be signed.

Alors on pourrait se demander comme ça après avoir regardé le film Almost Famous, si le groupe Stillwater est un vrai groupe de rock... Oui, non ? D'abord, ce sont des acteurs qui jouent dans le film et même si on a envie d'y croire, il ne s'agit pas d'un authentique. Ce qui est sûr c'est que les chansons crées par Peter Frampton pour l'occasion sont une pure tuerie ... et qu'un groupe portant le nom de Stillwater existe bien. La preuve est ce second album, intitulé I Reserve the Night, enregistré en 1978.

Buddy Buie du groupe Atlanta Rhythm Section va produire le premier album dans le studio One à Doraville. Ce disque ne porte pas de titre et Stillwater est lancé dans l’aventure sous le prestigieux label Capricorn. Ils vont tourner et ouvrir pour la crème des groupes au sommet, de Black Oak Arkansas à Elvin Bishop, sans oublier The Outlaws et Sea Level. C’était le paradis pour eux, d’autant plus qu’ils étaient quasi toute l’année sur les routes, sans compter les interviews, émissions radio, show télé et tout ça fort d’un single qui caracolait dans le top 100. Stillwater est alors retourné en studio pour y enregistrer le second album I Reserve the Right. Au fur et à mesure des tournées, le groupe va se rendre compte que les albums deviennent très difficiles à trouver et que les disquaires ne savent pas qu’un nouveau LP est sorti. La raison est simple : Capricorn a fait faillite et le rêve va s’arrêter net. Ils tenteront de retourner en studio pour y enregistrer un troisième album, mais le nouveau manager ne sera pas à la hauteur et aucun contrat ne sera signé.
