Sorti en 1975, cet album éponyme marque le retour des Troggs après quelques années d’effacement. Connus pour leurs tubes bruts et immédiats des années 60 comme Wild Thing ou Love Is All Around, les Anglais explorent ici un son plus mature, avec des ballades mélodiques, du rock teinté de glam et des touches de soul. Sans atteindre l’impact de leurs premiers succès, ce disque témoigne d’une volonté de renouveau et d’un savoir-faire toujours vivace.

Les Troggs avaient déposé les armes à la fin des années 60, mais ils étaient le genre de groupe qui n'a cru à tout abandonner, et en 1975, ils sont retournés en studio pour enregistrer leur premier album. Tout simplement appelé The Troggs, l'album a permis au groupe d'ajuster un peu leur son, avec les résultats suggérant parfois un croisement entre le style boogie de Status Quo et le glam blue collar à la manière de Slade, en particulier sur l'auto-célébration de 'Full Blooded Band', qui figure sur le seul album des Rationals. Released in 1975, The Troggs is a self-titled comeback album for the British garage rock legends. While best known for their gritty '60s hits like Wild Thing and With a Girl Like You, this record reveals a softer, more refined side of the band. Blending melodic ballads, glam-tinged rock, and even hints of soul, the album reflects a group evolving with the times while retaining its core identity.

The Troggs had dropped off the charts by the end of the '60s, but they were the sort of band that simply didn't believe in giving up, and in 1975 they returned to the studio to cut their first album. Simply called The Troggs, the album found the group updating their sound just a bit, with the results at times suggesting a cross between Status Quo-style boogie and blue collar glam in the manner of Slade, especially on the honest self-celebration of "Full Blooded Band last, the legitimate release of The Rationals only album. The near legendary status of this record makes it hard to add anything to whats already been written about it over the years since it quickly came out and was cut out over 40 years ago.
