Issu de la scène de San Francisco, Mint Tattoo est un power trio formé par les anciens membres de The Oxford Circle, un groupe garage-psych actif au milieu des années 60. Leur unique album, éponyme, voit le jour en 1969 chez Dot Records, produit par le célèbre mentor de Janis Joplin, James William Guercio. Le disque propose un mélange brut de hard blues psychédélique et de rock garage, avec une énergie explosive, des riffs musclés et un chant à la fois rageur et habité. On y décèle l’influence de Cream, Blue Cheer ou encore The Who. Bien que l'album n’ait pas rencontré un succès commercial, il est aujourd’hui prisé des amateurs de rock heavy psych.

Emerging from the San Francisco scene, Mint Tattoo was a power trio formed by ex-members of The Oxford Circle, a mid-60s garage-psych outfit. Their self-titled and only album was released in 1969 on Dot Records, produced by James William Guercio (notably associated with Janis Joplin). The album delivers a raw blend of heavy blues-psych and garage rock, driven by powerful riffs, intense vocals, and fierce energy. Echoes of Cream, Blue Cheer, and The Who are present throughout. Though overlooked commercially, Mint Tattoo is now a cult favorite among fans of heavy psychedelic rock.
