Procol Harum’s self-titled debut album, released in 1967, is a cornerstone of baroque and psychedelic rock. Though the international hit A Whiter Shade of Pale wasn’t included on all original pressings, the album offers a richly orchestrated, melancholic sound that would influence the progressive rock movement. With Gary Brooker’s soulful vocals and Matthew Fisher’s haunting Hammond organ, the band crafted an atmospheric blend of classical sensibilities and rock textures, marking their place in 1960s musical innovation.
