Avec Ellis Island, leur deuxième et dernier album studio, The Paupers – groupe canadien emblématique de la scène psychédélique – explorent des territoires plus complexes et orchestrés que dans leur premier opus. Ellis Island, the second and final studio album by Canadian psychedelic band The Paupers, was released in 1968. The record shows a more elaborate and orchestrated side of the group, blending psychedelic rock with baroque pop and proto-prog influences. Line-up changes, including the departure of original guitarist Adam Mitchell, did not hinder the band’s creative ambition. Tracks like the title song and “South Down Road” highlight their exploratory approach and sonic sophistication, though the group would disband shortly after.
