Après le succès modeste de son premier album solo Windmills en 1972, Rick Roberts, ancien membre des Flying Burrito Brothers, revient en 1973 avec She Is a Song. Produit par Chris Hillman, son ancien compagnon de groupe, cet album approfondit le style country rock de Roberts en y intégrant des éléments folk et des arrangements plus élaborés. Enregistré aux Rocky Mountain Recorders à Boulder, Colorado, et mixé à Hollywood Sound Recorders, l'album bénéficie de la participation de musiciens de renom tels que Joe Walsh, Rusty Young et Paul Harris. She Is a Song est souvent considéré comme une œuvre charnière précédant la formation de Firefall, groupe cofondé par Roberts en 1974.

Following the modest success of his debut solo album Windmills in 1972, Rick Roberts, former member of the Flying Burrito Brothers, returned in 1973 with She Is a Song. Produced by his former bandmate Chris Hillman, the album delves deeper into Roberts' country rock style, incorporating folk elements and more elaborate arrangements. Recorded at Rocky Mountain Recorders in Boulder, Colorado, and mixed at Hollywood Sound Recorders, the album features contributions from renowned musicians such as Joe Walsh, Rusty Young, and Paul Harris. She Is a Song is often regarded as a pivotal work preceding the formation of Firefall, the band Roberts co-founded in 1974.
