Released in January 1970, On The Boards is the second and final studio album by the Irish trio Taste, led by guitarist and vocalist Rory Gallagher, with Richard McCracken on bass and John Wilson on drums. More sophisticated than their debut, this record blends blues-rock, jazz, and folk, delivering a richer and more diverse sound. Gallagher also plays alto saxophone on several tracks, bringing an unexpected twist to the arrangements. Praised by critics, On The Boardsconfirmed the band’s artistic maturity just before their breakup, and remains a striking testament to Rory Gallagher’s creative energy at the close of the 1960s.
