Après son départ du groupe The Outlaws en 1977, Henry Paul fonde le Henry Paul Band, dont le premier album, Grey Ghost, sort en 1979 chez Atlantic Records. Cet opus s'inscrit pleinement dans la tradition du rock sudiste, mêlant guitares jumelles, harmonies vocales et influences country. Le morceau-titre, "Grey Ghost", est une ballade épique dédiée à la mémoire de Ronnie Van Zant, chanteur de Lynyrd Skynyrd, décédé dans un accident d'avion en 1977. L'album se distingue par sa richesse instrumentale et ses compositions variées, allant de titres énergiques à des pièces plus introspectives.

After leaving The Outlaws in 1977, Henry Paul formed the Henry Paul Band, releasing their debut album, Grey Ghost, in 1979 under Atlantic Records. The album embodies the Southern rock tradition, featuring twin guitars, vocal harmonies, and country influences. The title track, "Grey Ghost," is an epic ballad dedicated to Ronnie Van Zant of Lynyrd Skynyrd, who tragically died in a plane crash in 1977. The album showcases a rich instrumental palette and a variety of compositions, from energetic tracks to more introspective pieces.
