Formed in 1967 in Champaign, Illinois, REO Speedwagon is an American rock band that achieved significant success in the 1970s and 1980s. Their debut self-titled album, R.E.O. Speedwagon, was released in October 1971 on Epic Records.This album marks the band's first with lead vocalist Terry Luttrell, who would leave the band in 1972 to join Starcastle.The album's sound blends hard rock, psychedelic rock, and progressive elements, with tracks like "157 Riverside Avenue" and "Sophisticated Lady" becoming staples in the band's repertoire.
