Formé par les frères Jon et David Gershen ainsi que Jim Rooney, Borderline est un groupe américain de country rock originaire de Woodstock, New York. Leur unique album, Sweet Dreams and Quiet Desires, est sorti en 1973 sur le label Avalanche Records. Enregistré aux studios Bearsville, l'album mêle habilement des influences de folk, country, bluegrass et rock psychédélique.
L'album se distingue par la participation de musiciens renommés tels que Richard Manuel et Garth Hudson du groupe The Band, crédités sous les pseudonymes "Dick Handle" et "Campo Malaqua" respectivement, conformément au souhait du producteur Albert Grossman. On y retrouve également John Simon au piano, Billy Mundi (ex-Mothers of Invention) à la batterie, Vassar Clements au violon, David Sanborn au saxophone, Jim Colegrove à la basse et Ben Keith à la pedal steel guitar et au dobro.
Malgré des critiques élogieuses, l'album n'a pas rencontré un grand succès commercial. Il a toutefois été réédité au Japon en 2000 par EMI Japan, puis aux États-Unis en 2013 par Real Gone Music, accompagné de notes de pochette détaillées et de photos d'archives.

Formed by brothers Jon and David Gershen along with Jim Rooney, Borderline was an American country rock band from Woodstock, New York. Their sole album, Sweet Dreams and Quiet Desires, was released in 1973 on Avalanche Records.Recorded at Bearsville Studios, the album skillfully blends influences of folk, country, bluegrass, and psychedelic rock.
The album features notable contributions from Richard Manuel and Garth Hudson of The Band, credited under pseudonyms "Dick Handle" and "Campo Malaqua" respectively, as per producer Albert Grossman's request.
