Formé en 1973 à Benton Harbor, Michigan, White Summer est un trio de rock progressif et hard rock composé de Jim Watkins (chant, batterie), Rick Lowe (guitare, chant) et David Wheeler (basse, chant). Inspirés par des artistes tels que Jimi Hendrix, Cream et Grand Funk Railroad, ils ont auto-produit leur unique album éponyme en 1976, enregistré aux studios Uncle Dirty's Sound Machine à Kalamazoo, Michigan, avec l'ingénieur du son Bryce Roberson, anciennement de Chess Records. L'album, pressé à seulement 1000 exemplaires, est devenu une pièce de collection recherchée. Le groupe a ensuite déménagé en Floride à la fin des années 70 et a enregistré un second album, surnommé le "Red Album", en 1982 avec une nouvelle formation.

Formed in 1973 in Benton Harbor, Michigan, White Summer was a progressive and hard rock trio consisting of Jim Watkins (vocals, drums), Rick Lowe (guitar, vocals), and David Wheeler (bass, vocals). Influenced by artists like Jimi Hendrix, Cream, and Grand Funk Railroad, they self-produced their sole eponymous album in 1976, recorded at Uncle Dirty's Sound Machine Studio in Kalamazoo, Michigan, with engineer Bryce Roberson, formerly of Chess Records. The album, limited to 1000 copies, became a sought-after collector's item. The band later relocated to Florida in the late '70s and recorded a second album, known as the "Red Album," in 1982 with a new lineup.
