Following his departure from Poco and the Souther–Hillman–Furay Band, Richie Furay launched his solo career with I've Got a Reason, released in 1976 on Asylum Records. This album reflects Furay's recent Christian conversion, offering introspective lyrics within a polished country rock framework. Supported by musicians from the "Jesus Music" movement, the record blends faith and artistry without overt preaching. Produced by Michael Omartian and Bill Schnee, the album is regarded as a seminal work in contemporary Christian rock.
