Pilot est un groupe écossais de pop rock formé en 1973 à Édimbourg par David Paton (chant, basse) et Billy Lyall (claviers, flûte, chant), anciens membres des Bay City Rollers. Ils sont rapidement rejoints par Stuart Tosh (batterie) et Ian Bairnson (guitare). Le groupe se fait connaître grâce à ses mélodies accrocheuses et ses harmonies vocales raffinées, produites notamment par Alan Parsons. Leur premier album, From the Album of the Same Name, sorti en 1974, contient le tube international "Magic" qui atteint le top 10 aux États-Unis et au Royaume-Uni. En 1975, le single "January" s’impose comme un numéro un au Royaume-Uni, en Irlande et en Australie. Après plusieurs albums et changements, Pilot se sépare en 1977, ses membres participant ensuite à d’autres projets, notamment The Alan Parsons Project.

Pilot is a Scottish pop rock band formed in 1973 in Edinburgh by David Paton (vocals, bass) and Billy Lyall (keyboards, flute, vocals), former members of the Bay City Rollers. They were soon joined by Stuart Tosh (drums) and Ian Bairnson (guitar). The band became known for their catchy melodies and refined vocal harmonies, produced notably by Alan Parsons. Their debut album, From the Album of the Same Name, released in 1974, features the international hit "Magic," which reached the top 10 in both the US and UK charts. In 1975, the single "January" topped the charts in the UK, Ireland, and Australia. After several albums and lineup changes, Pilot disbanded in 1977, with members joining other projects such as The Alan Parsons Project.
